crashes in Tamriel exterior

Somehow, I would get CTD around npcs/creatures that were added by MMM, it happens when the combat ai is toggled (I found this out by using tcai at places where I have CTD and I could approach said creatures/npcs without crashes. It also mostly happens in Tamriel exterior, I haven't had any crashes related to creatures in dungeons yet, so this is baffling to me. I could just run around in the wilderness and suddenly hear battle cries from MMM's NPC and bam, CTD. >.<

 

I installed the newest version of OOO and MMM according to the instruction given, but I still got the CTD. I don't use FCOM. This is pretty much the only presistent problem I have with Oblivion.

 

Could it be because of the leveled list? Or something to do with ai behaviors?

 

Any help would really be appreciated.

Has this issue persisted through all of your games? Could you post your load order so that I may see which MMM plugins you are using? Some of the add-ons are less stable than others.

Ok, first questions: do you use BOSS to order your mods and Wrye Bash/OBMM to do a basic conflict check?

 

Yes, I did. Though some mods that are minor and are "unknown" to boss that I had to place by hand. I placed 2 companion mods near the end of the load order too, Vilja and Neeshka. I moved a few mods that were not functioning higher up in the load order at the end before bashed patch too, Romuska Fantasy Store (causing CTD when I enter it when it was high up), personality idle 4, p1seeyousleep (not working when it was higher up).

 

I am currently doing a conflict check again on OBMM. This is a stupid question, but what do I do with all of the "unknown" mods that BOSS doesn't recognize? Do I just leave them at the bottom or do I move them up before bashed patch?

Yes, I started a new game 3 times over the course of the past 2 months, with the addition or deletion of a few mods, MMM and OOO were the ones that were constant throughout those 3 playthroughs, and I have the same persistent CTD in all 3.

looking at your list, I'm curious about something. When I run BOSS, it always puts streamline at the very bottom with the Bashed patch just above it.

 

I know this doesn't help you. I was just curious as to why mine always get put there while yours are different. I know our lists are different but I see 2 mods that are the same for both of us and they both are above SL and BP... Those 2 are Display stats, and Vilja.

Okay, I got the conflict report from Tes4edit and OBMM....I am having a hard time understanding them though. >.<

 

KuerteeCleanUp, Duke's Combat Archery and Duke's script effect thingy mods, come before Streamline and after Bashed Patch on the masterlist, while Brucevayne suggested that Fearsome Magicka to be placed at the end after streamline to avoid problems. So that explains the differences =)

 

I placed Vilja and Neeshka after bashed patch so that Mayu's Animation Overhaul would not override her animations and cause them to use vanilla animations, since I am using a combination of different animations from a few mods. :wink:

 

Display stats was not in the masterlist from the 06-06 update. Thanks for reminding me to get the update! I just moved it to the appropriate place. Though it isn't causing those CTD >.< since I started using it just two weeks ago or so.

You may try this: first, you need to identify at least one creature which always CTD. Do as before, toggling off AI, going nearby and ON AI again. As soon as you are certain that creature is CTDing, open TES4Edit and find it under MMM.

TES4Edit will show you every module which tries to overwrite its field, and how.

 

To find the creature quickly you will need its baseid; you may use mods such as "RefScope" or "FormID Finder" to obtain it easily.

 

In TES4Edit then it is only a matter of inserting your ID on the search box in the upper left and it will find your creature/NPC.

 

Even if you don't manage to solve it, tell us which mods are currently overwriting that creature. We may help you more.

I mean: when you have the creature selected in TES4Edit, in the right panel you will have some columns. There will be a MMM column, which is the creature you want to have in game, and other columns which are other mods who are conflicting/overriding the creature.

Tell us the name of each column you find, in order (each column name will be a mod).

I had a save file near a bandit camp of 5 bandits (1 outlaw, 2 cutthroats, 1 outlaw bowman, 1 ringleader, 1 guard dog) that causes CTD whenever I approach it.

 

Okay, I am sorry, there has been a misinformation. I tried what you suggested, toggling combat ai and ai off and then activating them one by one. I didn't have any CTDs at all!. Then I tried deactivating all the ai processes, stand in the middle of the camp and activate it, no CTDs too.

 

I reloaded the game, deactivate the combat ai ONLY and approached the camp, then I noticed something! One of the Outlaw was wandering around and casting a Mysticism spell (pink shader) and then the game crashed. I reloaded and this time, dactivated all the ai processes, approach the camp and when I could see the outlaw that casted the spell earlier, I ONlY activated her ai processes, she started wandering and again, cast the same spell with the pink shader (school of Mysticism), the game CTD shortly.

 

I recalled the few times that I was able to see the creatures/npcs before CTDs occured, there were indeed pink shaders, sometimes, numerous shaders (different schools of magic). So I guess it has something to do with spells, instead of the creatures themselves??

 

Is there a way to check what spell the AI are casting?

 

At least we now know that it's a spell (or numerous spells) that is causing the CTD. I am definitely sure it isn't Fearsome Magicka because I disabled the AI from casting any spells from that mod in the ,ini and the problem was already there before I started using it. That left us with vanilla spells, Supreme Magicka and LAME, probably some other mods which I might have missed out too. I recalled LAME having a plugin that gives LAME's new spells to AI, but I removed that before I started a new game this time, so I guess that narrows it down further.

 

Any suggestion of my next move?
