Is there a Mod for that?

ok I want to change the inventory of the man at arms of battle horn castle and I got a mod that gave me an active inventory spell but their inventory resets after about a day(ingame) so I was wondering if there was a mod that lets me turn that reset off. (I am very unskilled and can not use the construction kit so that is why I am looking for a Mod.

I want to change their armor and sword that from the Pure Steel Mod but to keep the battle horn shield.

I think your best bet would be to use the construction set. It would be a simple permanent fix with no patches and no reversion to what the original mod has them equipped with.

You would not have to become a great modder and learn a ton of stuff. You would just have to learn the things pertinent to your mod.

This mod would not be uploadable without the permission from authors of two mods, so you might not find anyone to make this mod for you because a modder wants to be able to upload his or her work. If you make it for personal use, you can have more freedom to do whatever you want. You could copy the armor from the Pure Steel Mod to Battle Horn Castle and then change the inventory of the guards so they would always respawn and reset with the gear you want them to have.

I think you'd literally just have to go into the CS and edit his main inventory. I know that doesn't help but what you're describing sounds pretty specific and I severely doubt theres a mod out there that edits that exact NPC's inventory to do exactly what you're describing.

Heres how you do it:

Download the Oblivion Construction Set

After its done installing, go into the folder you have Oblivion in, usually in C:/Program files/bethesda or whatever (A really good shortcut for this is to just right click your desktop shortcut for Oblivion and select "Open file location")

Double click Construction Set.

When it opens, go to file>data>find Oblivion.esm, check the box next to it. Do not set it as an active file, since the active file is the mod you're going to be creating.

Find the NPC in there, look around for his inventory, and place whatever you want in it.

If what you want in there is from another mod, set that mod as the active file instead. You won't need Oblivion.esm checked.

After it's done, save, and go play. (Obviously enabling the .esp if it isn't already)

I think making a mod slaved to a master as MikeySix recommends is a very difficult task for a brand-new modder. To do that you have to use Wrye Bash to add a new master, and then you have to esmify the .esp master before opening the two mods in the CS. Then you have to espify it again before play-testing. You have to repeat these steps every time you work on the mod. One slip and you can ruin the mod.

The task here is to take armor from one mod and equip it to guards from another mod. I think it would be much easier for a new modder to just copy the armor from one mod to the other by opening both mods in the CS at the same time with one active. And then renaming the armor and giving it a new form ID in order to duplicate it and have it reside in both mods. Then the second mod is not needed anymore for this modding project. Since this would be a mod for personal use and would never be uploaded or distributed, no author permissions would be required to steal the armor from the mod.

OK I downloaded the construction set and I found out how to add the stuff to the Battle Horn Knights inventory my question now is how to I save this as a mod or whatever because when I save it as an esp and launch the game with it the game crashes.

I loaded both the DLC Fighters Stronghold and the Pure Steel Mod with the DLC is the active. I looked up the NPCs and found Battlehorn Knight 1 and 2 under male imperial, battlehorn knight 3 under male breton and battlehorn knight 4 and battle horn captain un der male redgurd.

I then deleted all the weapons and armor the had in their inventory(but not their cloths and the battle horn shield)

then I moved in all the Pure steel armor and the pure steel long sword to their inventory

I set the offset of the man at arms from - 2 to 5 and then renamed all battle horn man at arms to Battlehorn Knight( I thought that this suited it more)

Then I cliked ok when I was done with the npcs and saved the esp as battlehorn knights into the data folder.

then I used the task manager to close the construction kit(it always crashs when I close it.

then I launch Oblivion and check the new esp.

the game opens up and when I hit space bar to get past the opening it crashs or frezes if I let it play it does that same thing.

what am I doing wrong.

also I am editing the DLC Battlehorn Castle would I have to get permision for this too?

Sounds like a conflict between the mod you made and the original mod with the armor.

Make sure the armor you want on the guard has the same mesh and texture from the armor in the original mod.

I wish I could help you further but I'm not that great of a modder either. I started learning how to make .esps with morrowind, but even then all I would do is tool around with the variables of items such as weight and power. Went as far as changing the mesh of orcs so they would be a beast race like khajiit (was funny).

Can't really offer any further advice, if the game is crashing while your mod is active, its pretty obvious that it's conflicting with the other mod. Try loading the game WITHOUT the original mod, and see what happens.

Also, you never need permission to edit anyone's mod as long as you don't plan on uploading the modified version of their mod. That's when it becomes plagarism. If it's only for yourself, do whatever you want, its your computer and your files.
