BloodyFox
I've got everything working and the construction program opens, but when I attempt to edit anything (at all) it crashes, closes the program, and half the time I need to restart my computer. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling everything, and now I'm at a bit of a loss as to what I can do.

If so, right-click on the TESCS launcher and set it to 'Run as administrator.' If it is not in the context menu, it is in the file's properties somewhere. It's probably my computer or a compatability issue with something on it. Thanks though, since it worked a little while.
yeldarb
Move Oblivion outside of Program files and UAC. I have Oblivion installed in C:Games\Oblivion. UAC will prevent the esp you make with the Consruction Set not show up inside your Data folder.UAC will also prevent a program that uses the functions of OBSE from running, even if you are logged in as an administrator. UAC is a great program for protection from malware, but it will cause problems with any modded game.
BloodyFox
Any thing I manage to save - though that doesn't happen often - I can load into the game. The problem is keeping the construction set program running since it likes to crash, and any mods I download run fine as well along with Oblivion itself. I tried changing the location of the Construction Set and it still messes up. I've started looking for another, just incase I've gotten a bad file or what ever, but so far... nada. What are you trying to do with TESCS?
BloodyFox
I use the OBSE to run the actual Oblivion game. And since I can't keep the construction set working, I'm really not doing anything with it. Initially, I didn't know what it was since I had played the Elder Scrolls games on X-box and PS3, so I was just playing with it. Still am actually because I don't know all that can be done still. If you meant what I was doing inside the program itself: It freezes and closes on landscape editing - though that doesn't work in and of itself at least 70% of the time. Dragging over objects to the render window often causes it to quit responding, but not right away. Usually I can't get about ten or so different things in an area before it stops. Saving what I've done will as well on occasion, and I can't save anything if I've opened the heightmap editing. The last one is where I often have to restart the computer. Tomlong54210
Install Wrye Bash, and see if launching TESCS with OBSE helps. That seems like a stretch, but I guess it is worth a try. Bash launches it with OBSE by default, if OBSE is installed. How much memory do you have? When you look in the Windows Task Manager on the Performance tab, how much physical memory do you still have available?
