Items in display cases disappear

Recommended Posts

Yep. I think this may have something to do with Midas Magic being enabled, but I don't know. The problem is that items in display cases (ones that I don't own) seem to disappear after I've seen them once. This includes the jewelry shop in the Imperial City Market District where all the stealable jewelry (stuff in the open) seemingly vanishes. I suspect that the jewelry/items clip out of or into their containers because I saw an outfit that seemed to be half in-half out of a display case, even when the display case was shut. Does anybody have a fix? Please help, this problem is making it REALLY hard to fence anything of worth without killing people.

Download and install Reaper911's The Dark Tower TESNexus php?id 31183. The mod has a jewelry dealer who leaves everything out on an open table in a land where people have access to 100% Chameleon spells! Another option is "The Collector" questline in vanilla. You collect ten statues for a high elf named Umbacano-The Prima guide book goes into detail on where to find all ten statues and Umbacano is very generous as an employer, He even pays you to escort him through an Ayleid ruin! If you have a higher level character the loot from the quest is very vauable.

They disappear after you have SEEN them once? Or after you have STOLEN them once?

If you think the problem started after installing or activating Midas Magic, you should investigate that. Disable Midas Magic and do some play-testing. You can keep your old saves and use them for playing for fun. You won't want to play one of your play-testing saves for fun because you will have lost all of your Midas spells.

A mod which badly places an item in a display case is liable to make the item fall through the bottom of the case and on to the floor.

Items in display cases are non-respawning loose items. The display case is not what a modder would call a "container" and it will not respawn.

This is most likely not what you are after, but I made a mod where most of the valuable loose items in the entire town of Cheydinal do respawn so a thief can profitably burglarize the same building over and over, twice a week: Cheydinhal for Thieves

No, I haven't stolen them before, I went in once to buy some jewelry to melt down with Midas and saw stuff in the display cases. After a while, I went back because the owner's stock had replenished and I wanted more jewelry. Unfortunately, the stuff in the cases was gone, it had slipped through. Is there a way to reset a specific shop? The shop had not been changed by Midas Magic or any other mod, so I see any reason why MM would make the items drop through the bottom of the case.
