agripus
Something I've noticed recently in game that is driving me batty is how armor textures seem to pop into their high res versions as you get closer and closer to a NPC. So you'll see a solider or something in the distance and as you approach him his armor seems to switch textures into more high res versions as you get closer, but the transition seems very clunky. Is there any way to correct this issue?
untamedfuture
I would really like help with this as well, it is driving me crazy. Thanks in advance to anyone that has any ideas on how to fix this.
Thandal
Which armours are involved? Vanilla, or custom? If custom, then as described in the responses about this same issue in another thread, this is probably due to missing textures for the differing Level of Detail break-points the Eclipse engine uses. There are three LOD sets, and if a mod author hasn't provided different ones for each, you'll see generic ones at the distances, (probably; middle, and far) of missing ones, then "pop" to high-res when you get close. untamedfuture
Thanks for responding. It's for all of the vanilla meshes. I understand the three different LOD meshes. For some reason it is just as the original poster said too. They visibly switch textures as you get closer and its very noticeable where before it was never noticeable. Thandal
Have the people reporting this recently changed their graphics settings?
untamedfuture
That's what I was thinking it might be too but I haven't. It happens with everything, npc armor, shadows, trees, etc. but its mostly noticeable on npc armor. Where before things would fade into view now they pop into view. I cleared out all the mods from my addins, core data, and override folders and it still does it with just the vanilla game going. It's like somehow the draw distance got changed or something. Strange... Edited October 11, 2011 by untamedfuture
Thandal
It's like somehow the draw distance got changed or something. Strange...Well, in the Video Options there are independent "Graphics Details" and "Texture Detail" settings. I'm wondering if those who are reporting this behaviour have had recent changes to one or both...
untamedfuture
I didn't change graphics settings but just to make sure I double checked and loaded different saves, each time with the video options different. It made no difference regardless of what the in game video options were set to.
Thandal
Can anyone who experiences this behavior provide some screenshots?
untamedfuture
The only fix I can think of is increasing the draw distance somehow. It is very hard to see in a screenshot though bc it's an effect that is only noticeable when moving. If your comparing side by side screenshots the LOD and LOD2 meshes dont look all that different. However when your trotting around and all the NPC's armor sets are clicking in and out of focus it can be distracting. Thank you for writing me back so soon, I just didn't know if anyone had an easy fix for it. I'll see if I can get some good screenshots though and i'll keep playing around with it.
