...Status update

 

Pregnancy system - 100%

 

There are two systems (for) that plug the sex system: dating and protitution. If you are sucessfull in dating or if you pay(sell yourself) in prostitution, you can knock a girl pregnant or get pregnant (if you are female player). That's where pregnancy system starts.

 

This system (like all others) are gender specific. It maters if you are male or female.

For female:

When you are pregnant, you will receive a shape of pregnant woman (pregnant dress in this case). With pregnancy, you receive weakness to everything (normal weapons, poison, diseases etc), so it's for the best that you stay at home. You will be pregnant for 7 days (it's not reasonable to be pregnant more then that). At that time you suppose to deliver a baby (5 year old kid to be more precise - engine limitations). You must ask someone about the doctor. When you do that, some kind citizen will tell you not to worry and that he/she happen to know a good doctor. Tomorrow, the doc will really find you and ask you why you needed him. You can chose to deliver the kid or to abort pregnancy. It's self evident what will happen when you pick each of these. When you want to deliver a baby, some random kid will be spawned beside you (there are 6 of them for now and they are all pretty and have names). The doc will use magic to extract a kid and you will not feel a thing.

You can also have "dead born" (I will not list probabilities here).

If you go without doc's assistance, you will have spontaneous abortion (this one is bad and better void it if you can).

 

For male:

You are pretty careless and you will not suffer any consequences for pregnancy at the moment (like in the real life). When you knock some girl pregnant (could be any girl in the game world), she will assume "the shape". After 7 days of pregnancy, she will "spawn" you kid (random: girl or a boy). You guessed right...Your troubles start from here.

 

Taking care of kids:

I was very proud when I made scripting for kids "global". That means that I could import as much kids as I want into the game world and attach on script to them all to do what I want. The problem with that is that you can make a hundreds of kids (especialy if you are male) and they will populate the game world without some obvious function for you as the player. I needed a player to care for them and if he doesn't, they suppose to "disappear" from the game world. In short, I needed some concept that will allow me to do that without being wierd why they are gone.

 

Fortunately, this game is situated in some medieval province Tamriel. During that time people didn't know s*** (think of witches and burning people's a** on stake) and mortality rate was high. There was not industry that will manufacture tons of food and hygiene was very poor which caused plague to occur and cities were wiped out by it. That gave me an idea what to do.

 

You can tell a kid to follow you and show him your (his/her) home. He/she will spend time there playing (with apparatus).

 

Firstly, it's not recomended to have more than two of those kids because they eat like elephants. You need to feed them for them to be able to survive (one eatable ingredient can give them energy for 5 days). You can find this food around or buy it from merchants (apples, sweetcake etc). If you don't feed them, you will first receive the message telling you which kid is hungry (by name) and how many days he/she has until starvation. Kid will be disabled (gone) if you don't feed him/her.

 

Hygiene is another aspect of this. You need to take kids to some lake to take a bath (every 7 days - recomended). If you don't, they have a chance to contract plague (deadly if not cured immediately). Cure can be purchased form all kinds of people that deal with some potions (alchemists, PublicMerchants etc). The cure itself is injected in special way (you must target diseased kid and press hotkey).

 

Diseases...Depending on current weather they can contract common cold or flu (none of them deadly). They are cured the same way as plague (only cheaper medications).

 

You can leave kids at home when you go to have some adventure (kids are mortal).

 

Kids grow up. They grow in 5 stages. You need to take care for them till phase 5 (when they are grown people). The message will be displayed to inform you who has a birthday (name of the kid) and how old is he/she. I didn't put presents for kids yet.

 

When they are grown up you don't need to feed them, bath them...They will only get sick from time to time if weather is bad. You should find an employer for them, because they are capable to work. They will bring their salary back home (you can take it). When you find an employer (can be any guy that offers a job for your kids in the game world, just go to around and see who offers the job), go to your grown up son/daughter and tell him/her to go to work. Kids work from 8am to 16pm. They go to work place (where you found an employer) and come back home. I needed to use something as symbol that they work. There are animations for rakes and hoe only. I picked rakes. So when you go to see them at work, they will rake (even in interior. You can pretend that's some modern broom).

 

That much about kids....

 

It seems that this mod will be voiced. I will update how it goes...

I need money for my medical bills, i read this whole topic and my jaw dropped, got lock-jaw and now look really weird :biggrin:

 

On a serious note I am so impressed with everything i have read. You have done something that even a team of many game developers didn't you've found many fantastic ways to make use of a game engine that doesn't Involve endless amounts of repetitive "hack n slash" missions. I have been a fan of all your mods thus far and this one is bound to beat them all by a mile. this is stuff people pay for in games.

 

I await eagerly for the release date :smile:

Just putting this out there-

If you want someone to help out with stuff that isn't Scripting, like spellchecking and all that jazz, and maybe a few texture and mesh things here and there, please let me know. I'll be more than happy to help out once I push my race mods out this weekend.

...New feature for pregnancy system

 

I'm developing the new feature for the pregnancy system. It will populate the game world with kids. This is what will happen...

 

I will not tell you everything (it would be a spoiler), but You will see from time to time women in the game world walking around pregnant. The thing here is that player doesn't have anything with it (he didn't pump her up). It will be like that they've got pregnant with their man (husband or someone else). They will be pregnant for 7 days and they will "spawn" their kid. I will make it so that every woman can have 2 or 3 kids.

 

The result of this is that you will be able to see kids walking around in the game world. This sub-system will not have any gameplay and it will serve only for immersion. At one point, the game world will be populated with kids that were missing in vanilla game.

 

Those kids will be similar to player's kids, but they will not have any gameplay. They will grow up, however.I think I will develop it so that player can have some interation with them (this is still in concept phase). I mentioned that before...Kids have some difficulties to implement AI packages. For example, for sleeping or eating, their off-set is wrong. Basicaly, I will make them wander around and maybe some other things that they don't have problems doing...

 

I will tell more about this when I fully develop it...

 

...Quality issue

 

I used mostly vanila resources in this mod and I really didn't require any external resources for anything. However, there is one place where I needed to use an external resource.

 

I need to ask for help here. If there is anyone who knows how to use blender and wants to help, please contact me. Most of clothes I saw don't have this clipping issue. They just force player or NPC to assume a new body type (for which that clothes are made). Simple solution for this would be to use 5 dresses for 5 stages of pregnancy (belly grows in 5 stages - from small to big belly).

 

I could use more than one modder for this. I would greatly appreciate if someone wants to give it a try.

I'd like to add in my two-cents' worth, here, if I may. Not everyone uses HGEC. Indeed, there are some severe mesh and texture issues with that set of bodies. Probably one of the best-designed female bodies, if not the best one, is Robert's replacement, unfortunately only available in one body type, although I think someone has compiled a group of them based upon the original mesh. It would be really nice if you offered support for something other than a mesh with spindly, matchstick arms, even if that mod happens to be the most-supported in the game with respect to erotic clothing and armor. That's not the point of your mod. I understand that you're at the mercy of other modders here, so my request is actually going out to them ... and to you if they respond, to at least give some of us, for which HGEC isn't an option, some alternatives.

I depend on kindness of other modders here. I can't pick or ask for anything. I only have some guidelines that the dress doesn't cause clipping and to have five of them in stages of pregnancy developement.

 

I've seen that adjustable bone thing in Growlf's mod "Female resizing body". In that mode, you can make female look taller or shorter. I contacted Growlf to ask if it's possible to make pregnancy the same way. I wouldn't need any dress in that case...Belly would just grow by itself. He said that's not possible to do for abdomen.

Sounds AMAZING! But, I have a question. Will the random pregnancy of NPCs be optional? and wouldn't you eventually just have tons of children to the point at which there are too many people?

 

It will be optional. There will be dialogue where you ask them if they are pregnant. If they are answer yes, you will see them walking pregnant after that and later "spawn" a kid.

 

NPCs will in this case "remember" how much kids they already have (one of my tricks). I will not allow for one NPC to have more than, say, two kids. That way the game world will not be full of those kids, but will have limited number of them. I wouldn't do it if the number of kids is unlimited. I just had this idea to populate the game world with kids that are not yours (there aren't any in vanilla game). They will grow up and you will see kids of all ages in one point - smaller and bigger.

...Status update

 

The sex system (touched by the hand of Tefnacht) - 100% (new thing are always added to this and other systems but...)

 

This part of mod is more than I ever expected (thanks to Tefnact). Old sex systems that I had chance to see and try out, helped define some criteria for this sex system:

- Stability - those kinds of mods have proven to be highly unstable because of complexity and messy scripting. With each new feature, the mod can collapse.

- Bug free -

- Interesting gameplay - those mods are popular because they have sex as their main topic, but gameplay of those is boring to tears.

- Flexibility - the sex system should be available for any NPC (not only for specific companion etc)

 

This mod is the only one of it's kind that has all above handled.

 

The gameplay for the sex system is modeled after good porn movies (gulp). I'm not kidding about this. To help extract patterns, I contrasted them with sex games (proven to be boring). First thing that pops on my mind is that sex games should be more interesting, because you have interactive power and you can create all kinds of fun setups. However, they are not....

 

These are some patterns that I found and that are integrated into the sex system of this mod:

- Realism of actors and their movements- The sex system doesn't deal with this. There are mods around that can make actors look good. It takes mocap or something to create fully realistic animations. One more issue are "bouncy parts".

- Focus of attention - In game, player is forced to make way too much decisions when he suppose to relax and watch. That breaks immersion immediately.

- "Free hand" - In this sex system everything is picked automatically. That means that actors will do their thing from beginning to the end without you doing anything.

- Variations - In games, one pose is picked and you are forced to watch it from beginning to the end (15 mins or so). If in some rare cases you have an option to shift a pose, you need to stop (breaks immersion) and decide (this ruins it all) which pose to pick. In this sex system, poses and variations of those poses are shifted every 5-10 secs automatically (by default, but you can change this in configuration). This is trademark of porns by the way. You can almost use it as educational material how much interesting poses you can find inside.

 

There are some shortcomings of porns where game should be superior:

- Setup for sex - In porn they don' allow any logical plot to develop. That's because they don't pay actors for talking, but "action". They don't want to waste tape. Usually some repairman guy comes to fix something and some poor girl doesn't have money to pay him...Figure out how did she pay him...

If you watched "Basic Instinct" movie (Michael Douglas, Sharon Stone) than know what would porn with good plot look like.

I've created dating system and prostitution system to help people hook up in the game. That's how they are hooked up in "the real life". Basicaly, with dating and prostitution you can have one-night-stand, have secret lover, marry someone, make an adultery, buy sex, sell sex....

- Interaction - In porn you don't have any control over what's going on. In the sex system you have full control over everything. There is the catch here. If you must stop and make decisions what to do next, immersion is breaken and this type of control works against your game. That's why in this system everything works on hotkey press. You can shift current pose, variation of poses, speed of thrusting, force soda pop...Everything on keypress without loosing focus of what's going on and making decisions what to pick. This is also essential part, because if you go too much "free hand" you (if female player) or your girl (if male player) can end up pregnant.

- Customise - in the sex system you can customise everything: from sex duration, poses duration... to sex preference (hetero, home, bi), what to undress or keep on while having sex and hotkeys used.

 

This system took this "desired" shape just recently. I can say now that it's actually interesting to watch two actors doing their thing (for a change). The sound is well synchronized with what actors are doing (I could use some **SNIP** samples though).

 

I must thank my man Tefnacht for working on this project from day one (a month before me). He never stopped to amaze me with his high quality work...He learned so much about this in such a short time, that he simply left in dust all brilliant guys that tried to create something similar to this before.
