Help with mods

This will be something you do not want to hear, and having past experience with the Steam version, some mods will just not work. Steam does not play well with others. When I did have that version I was able to get some mods to work and some not. There is no clear reason as to why except that the Steam version just does not always read what is in the override folders and apply them to the game. If someone still has the Steam version and got it to work can give you a better reason as to what to do. All I can tell you from my experience is that some will just not work with that version due to it being Steam. Valve games have no probblems, but games made by other companies tend to have the same issue as you are having.

Shouldn't have to do either. A (very) few mods; those that address broken plot flags or item placement and discovery (e.g. "Elven Boots in Lothering"), require that you at least load a saved game from a point earlier than the event they modify. All the others just "work" when installed.

I don't know of any that require a change to the launch/start process. Except, (of course) those involving the command console, which need that switch added to the start line.

Ok. Just checking. I was gonna say if you're using the .override version then you'd have to install it using Da ModManager.

I just want to be sure that you're extracting it from the 7z file before dropping it into your override folder? Using a program like peazip or 7zip?

And are you using any other mods that alter dialogs? Its possible that you could have a mod conflict going on thats blocking it from working?

To change it to a .dazip is really easy. Take the folder that is extracted from the .7z file. Then Right Click on it, and choose the option that allows you create or add it to a new .zip folder. The wording for this varies by program to program. Once you have created the new .zip file, right click on the new zip file and choose rename. What you're going to rename, is the extension of the file. The part after the " . " (dot)

so change the .zip to .dazip

windows will tell you that changing the file extension could make the file unusable, are you sure you want to do that? Yes.

Then drop the newly renamed file into daupdater.exe, da modder or da modmanager.

the extension is the part of the filename after the dot ( . )

for example thisname.dazip or thisname.zip or thisname.7z etc etc.

If you're not seeing those at the end of the filenames, its most likely that you have the view options set to not show them. Here's a tute on how to turn them back on in vista.

http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/1269/vista_show_unhide_file_extensions/

Yours is a .rar? Interesting. The most recent version is .7z and or override file. Yet the much older version that I have, is .zip (Unless that I changed it myself waaaay back and have forgotten  )

Ok, what you are going to need to do is extract the contents of the .rar or ,7z folder. Right click on it, and choose to extract it to a new folder. http://www.wonderhowto.com/how-to-unzip-zipped-file-using-7-zip-extraction-tool-341026/

Once you have them bundle up into an actual .ZIP file, just right click on the file, choose RENAME. Then in the name box, use your mouse to click the part of the name at/around the . (dot).

Type in da so that it reads .dazip and hit your [enter] key. That will rename it to .dazip

Hope this helps!

Edit- Also, before you ask.... no I'm afraid that you can't just change the .7z to .dazip. 7z used different compression algorithyms than .zip does and it can give the installer errors if you try to rename it from .7z or .rar to .dazip.
