Getting Oblivion To Look It's Best

Ok so I didn't plan it out my first try, total mistake, anyways i uninstalled oblivion and started from scratch, but I don't think my QTP is activating atm. this is exactly what I did:

Installed Oblivion via steam after deleting any traces of the previous install from my pc.

loaded it up vanilla and maxed out the gfx settings.

installed OBMM

installed OBSE

installed OBGE + the shader pack

moved my OMOD files into the OBMM mods folder

activated quarls texture pack 3 (not reduced, the 4096 res version)

forgot the utilities achieve invalidation step.. (why it's not working?)

activated UOP in obmm

extracted UOP supplement patch into correct folders

activated UOP quarl compatibility patch

activated unofficial mods (DLC) patch

activated OMOD of RAEVWD that I made myself following the instructions with seemly no problems

ran tes4lodgen

remember the utilities achieve invalidation step for QTP and did it, it doesn't come off as a time sensitive thing to me.

my test bed is standing outside the town where every1 is invisible and looking at the quality of the ground on the imperial island (not that far away IMO)

and the ground does not look close to as good as the pics shown on the QTP3 download page

What do you mean by remember? It does not matter when you use archive invalidation. It is not a mod. Could you post a screen shot or two? It should be pretty obvious if QTP3 is working. The rocks and architecture look very different. The ground does not look the same either. Take comparative shots if you need to. Did you enable Steam Communities In-game? If not, OBSE is not working.

I think I was expecting too much from QTP3 because when I installed detailed terrain it made the near-distant ground LODs look much much better, is there any way to increase the grass draw distance like crazy? or at least more than in game max, I figure LODs would look much better if there was some grass on them. I had to uninstall RAEVWD because it was bringing my 60fps down to the 40s outside, though I really didn't notice much difference without it so wtv. It's good to know that the steam communities disables OBSE, but I have had it on the whole time. I found RAEVWD didn't reduce much pop in as far as boulders and geometry detail of the ground, which is the most annoying factor right now, maybe I am just asking too much of the game, is the uGridsToLoad setting what governs this? I tried increasing it to a higher number (I think it was 50) but it made the water in the game glitch and disappear, maybe a number more like 10 would work nice. I am sure QTP and detail terrain are working and looking very nice atm. I also installed Landscape_LOD_Texture_Replacement-2182, the border regions pack and normal map fix to use instead of RAEVWD, which i deactivated in OBMM. Don't seem to be having problems with those.

I change the uGridcount to 7 instead of 5 and it made the pop in distance much farther, looks sooo much better, 9 looked good too but made it lag, 11 glitched the water. now i just need more grass!!!! :P and better water reflections and were in business. thx so much for ur help tom

Oblivion.ini Grass Tweaks -http://tesivpositive.animolious.com/index.php?page=oblivion_ini_tweaks#Grass <-- You want the second tweak. I will add bold tags to those tweaks in the future. Sorry about the hard-ish read. I think the real max is around 10,000.

Watch the uGridCount because increasing it to a certain point will cause the bouncing/stuck characters bug.

RAEVWD would not replace pop-in. It only increases the detail of the distant lod data, by a lot. That has nothing to do with when the game loads the data. Landscape texture replacement has nothing to do with either of those. Texture files and LOD files are completely separate. Also, there are quite a few landscape texture replacers. There are also different areas to cover, border regions, "regular", and the "regular" seem to be split into to groups. Normal maps are not included in some of those packs. There is great opportunity to mix and match to figure out what looks best in your game.

Have fun!
