Ok, this was meant as a topic for people to sign up to help me on this project, please read the whole post, I cannot do this alone, someone has to be willing to help me?

 

Okay, so a year or so ago a friend of mine, hiddenanbu on the nexus, brought up a great idea, unfortunately he couldn't follow through due to lack in confidence in his skill. I'm now taking over the project in his stead.

 

What is it?

 

Originally it was going to be a general job to add some buildings and maybe do the Labyrinth, in Greek mythology the Labyrinth was a huge constantly shifting maze below the ground (not sure if we'll worry about the shifting part). This time around we're gonna start with Labyrinth and go from there. The Labyrinth will be a dungeon area that will use pieces from all kinds of dungeons around the FO3 world, this is also from greek mythology, the Labyrinth was supposedly all over the world and thus integrated architecture from everywhere. The base quest I'm looking at would be a find the creator that would lead the player through the labyrinth and possibly pass a Minotaur, ultimately ending with the player locating Daedalus (the greek architect that built the labyrinth), with him possibly becoming a companion.

 

What help do I need?

 

Well, I personally can build the Labyrinth, do basic level list enemy placement, and navmesh it out. However, I will need dialogging and someone who can do the quest. Depending on if we want custom armor, weps, tunnels, monsters and such I will need a modeler and someone good with textures. Anything I missed would be greatly appreciated.

 

Let me know if you want to help me out, if you guys will give me a couple days I'll make a basic (very basic) Labyrinth in the G.E.C.K and put a screenshot up so you guys can take a look at what I'm thinking.

Shameless self-bump with promised screencap, like I said very basic. This is most likely gonna be the final room, and the types of halls and such used will vary more than it does here.

 

 

 

 

 

And this is just to show a very small sort of the complexity the Labyrinth will have, that way it really is maze-like.

How shall I start... Hmm... I know, good news / bad news.

 

First the Good news...

 

I admire your willingness to take up your friend's mod idea. I think it has potential. I also believe anyone should follow their desires when it comes to modding.

 

Now the bad news...

 

I don't mean to rain on your parade, but... You are very unlikely to garner anyone's help with what you have supplied. The cell you've made is very simple and any decent modder could put that together in 5 or 10 minutes. Your description lacks a real exciting story line and you haven't done enough to 'WOW' any of us. If your level was mostly finished and you had an interesting detailed story to go with it, you might be able to get a few responses. Most people on the nexus who can help you out are busy with their own mods. Mod building is extremely time consuming. I alone have spent a year working on mine. What you have basically said is, "I can do the easy stuff, I need someone else to iron out all the difficult details." That rarely works. And you need several specialists, one to create creature models (for your Centaur) or the other custom models you want, one for the dialogue and quests, and probably one for writing scripts. To be honest, you will probably need to learn how to do all the Geck work yourself, which includes writing your own scripts, creating your own quests and designing your own dialogue. The creation of new models is an entirely different beast that is not even done within the Geck and requires a 3D modeling program, the ability to import and export model correctly and an artist touch. That is very difficult to find on the nexus in so far as getting someone to do it for you. You may have better luck asking for permission to use pre-existing models for use in your mod that getting someone to make a whole new tile set for you.

 

I rarely, if ever respond to threads asking for help making mods like this one. I only responded because of the idea of the shifting maze. That would be something rather unique and I have an idea on how it could be done.

 

Now, you are probably thinking that I am an elitist a-s-s-h-o-l-e, and I assure you that I am, at least, not the latter. I can be very helpful. So, to that end, I will offer what I can towards your endeavor. But know that I cannot devote much time as I am still finishing up my own mod. I can offer ideas and help out when things get tough. But you will have to do the lion's portion in bringing your mod to fruition. :smile:

I understand entirely, and I agree whole-heartedly that I should probably learn to do some of that stuff myself. I guess for now I'll just shut-up and work on it myself :) , thanks for the kick in the pants, I probably needed it.
