McclaudEagle
I've been working on putting some dialogue into my mod lately, and all was fairly plain sailing until I reached one particular NPC. The NPC himself isn't at fault, but rather the dialogue. How the dialogue should work... When you first speak to the guy, there will be no dialogue options as he will immediately ask you for a drink. The player is presented with two options, to either give him one, or to refuse. Either way, once the option is selected, he will respond accordingly, and then that particular topic will close. The player should then be presented with lots of different topics to discuss. Now, the problem... Despite having lots of different topics available, he will refuse to exit the drink topic. Correctly, he will ask immediately like he should. However, upon selecting an option and him responding, the player is sent to the dialogue option window, in which a "..." appears. Clicking on that will result in him asking the player for a drink again, with the same options appearing. None of the other dialogue topics appear like that should, they don't actually appear at all. I have been looking at the Whiterun dialogue quest, specifically at both Idolaf and Jon's dialogue, and can't seem to work out how they managed to get Jon to bring up the other dialogue options after the player has discussed why they are in Whiterun. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated as it's beginning to strain my head. Thanks, McclaudEagle.
kristakahashi
Ah, blocking topics (where the NPC initiates dialogue) will show up in perpetuity unless you check them to "SayOnce." That should fix it.
McclaudEagle
Awesome, that appears to have fixed it. Thanks How would I go about making it so he will ask that question when you greet him again, after say, 24 hours, but only if you gave him a drink, or told him you didn't have one in your possession to give him. I want it so that telling him you won't give him anything will cause him not to ask you for one again.
