Starting Fresh

So, I have an idea. I want to create a standalone .esp

 

Although the game world would be very large, it wouldn't be as lush as the original Fallout 3, nor as populated. I am having troubles with exterior spaces however. Modding individual objects with nif skope, with photoshop, building new pieces (with the exception of road signs) has been easy enough. Scripting has been a breeze on a small scale (conversations, etc.). However, I am having some issues with the GECK crashing (unable to open certain pieces), and missing the small things that allow the game to function.

 

In other words, I need a very newbie friendly guide at creation, from the ground up - so to speak. From the first cut-scene onward.

 

Does anyone know of a resource, which will lend me a hand with exterior spaces from scratch? A tutorial perhaps. Editing previous world spaces works well enough, but small things, like game starting points, cut scenes, protagonist starting points, stat modifications, is getting rather confusing.

 

A need a bunker-ish interior space, a few rooms, with a hatch, like the one from the Point Lookout expansion (I cannot find it).

 

Nearly empty world spaces that have everything configured to go, that I may edit as I go - if this works well enough.

 

After getting out the door with these small tasks, I may be familiar enough to continue on. Starting is the hardest part however.

 

Also, the formal GECK tutorials, I have watched them, read them, etc. They are not in-depth enough. For example, how do you start a game? Inserting a new vault is one thing, creating a new exterior world space and proper scripts is quite another.

 

Pointing toward any resources aiding in this would be appreciated. Then I will certainly have more questions.

AFAIK this doesn't exist.

Open the appropriate Beth cell in the geck, find the piece and lookup its name.

Again, AFAIK this does not exist. But you could make your own and go from there.

If you mean bypassing the original game beginning and using your own, I don't know, but I do know its possible.
