LeddBate Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Don't know why I suddenly bogged down into the teens (about 8 to 12 FPS) during the party sequence and the hallways near the party. As soon as I got out into the back courtyard my framerate popped back up around 70. It wasn't unplayable, just annoying. I'm not really looking for a solution so much as I'm curious as to whether anyone else has experienced this. My rig:CPU: i5-3570K @3.4GHz (no overclocking, though I do have a closed loop liquid cooler)MOBO: ASUSTek P8Z77-V LX (Socket 1155 LGA)RAM: Single channel 8GB stick (DDR3)GPU: GTX 670 (2GB DDR5)PSU: Coolermaster 1000 watt 80+ bronze rating (wanted headroom for more GPU)OS: Win 7 64bit. I do not have any mods that specifically affect the Thalmor Embassy or anything nearby. Indeed, I didn't have any problems in the area, except at the party (and the back halls) itself. I know that there are a lot of characters in that scene (a lot of models and scripts running, I'm sure) but I have mods that add dozens of NPCs to cities, towns and the road and they do not cause my framerate to plummet. I have one mod installed (Immersive Patrols, I believe) that spawns small to medium battles between Stormcloaks and Empire troops (usually around 30 vs. 30) and I can walk right through the middle of those fights and still keep my FPS above 60. So, why should the dozen odd models in the party scene cause my framerate to chug so bad?
Valkasha Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 (edited) Believe it or not, npcs constantly performing scripts in a tight space will take a heavier toll than some random soldiers fighting. Still, this shouldn't happen with your specs. Did you install any 4k+ texture packs recently? Edited October 7, 2014 by Valkasha
bojanni Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 (edited) Do you use ELFX and SMIM? Edited October 7, 2014 by bojanni
LeddBate Posted October 7, 2014 Author Posted October 7, 2014 (edited) First, big "Thank You" for the replies. Much appreciated! Believe it or not, npcs constantly performing scripts in a tight space will take a heavier toll than some random soldiers fighting. Still, this shouldn't happen with your specs. Did you install any 4k+ texture packs recently? That's what I suspected. I noted that when I was sneaking around (and throat-slitting the Thalmor sentries) that the further I got away from the party, the more my FPS went back up. When I passed through the door into the rear courtyard's cell, my framerate returned to normal. Texture packs: nope. Do you use ELFX and SMIM? SMIM: Nope.ELFX: Yes! I'll reload the party with ELFX disabled and see if that makes any difference. Thanks again for the assistance! EDIT: Disabling ELFX did help a little. Party scene was an average of 15 FPS. But when I wasn't looking at more than two or three NPCs, the framerate rose to between 20 and 25. When I got into the back halls, the average FPS was 25, improving the further I got away from the party. I'm beginning to think that I simply have too much bloated scripting in the background (from other mods, I have a lot of them) and the party scene simply taxes my CPU too much. I bet if I started a new game, the party scene wouldn't drag as much. Edited October 7, 2014 by LeddBate
