Franpa
Can I simply delete nv_sunglare.dds for Fallout New Vegas (And the appropriate file in Fallout 3) or is the process a bit more involved? It literally makes Fallout New Vegas unplayable for me as looking higher than the horizon causes the sky to blind me (It is a much more subtle effect in Fallout 3). I don't want to disable Bloom functionality and I'm aware of various modifications available that will modify the sun glare effect, but none of them seem to offer the option to straight up remove the sun glare. I've done a google search and couldn't find a way to disable it either. Edited October 7, 2014 by Franpa
Ladez
If the .dds is the only thing making the sunglare then you could simply place a fully transparent .dds as a replacer.
Franpa
So I never tested my original idea... instead I tried out your idea and it worked great at removing the sun glare! I just extracted the attached file and placed it in to the following location to remove the sun glare.C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\fallout new vegas\Data\textures\sky1. Note: I did not make this DDS file, it was sourced from: https://github.com/coderox/CatapultWars/tree/master/CatapultWars/Assets/Textures/Backgrounds2. Video comparison: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0dL-RsVelUs3. Also note that for Fallout 3 the file you're replacing is called sunglare.dds4. If you can not access the file attachment than here is an alternative download: https://mega.nz/#!ytZgxCJY!ljBRW2bjJ99tzQxN7mXXdsMDVvbtXsImoNRfE_5L8uY Edited January 28, 2020 by Franpa
Franpa
Cool beans, the attached file in my previous post still works. I was a little worried because the original source of the file no longer works. Edited January 28, 2020 by Franpa
