CloudX9
Hello, I really just started using mods today and I seem to have a bit of a problem that should yield a simple answer. Do all mods work for Awakenings? Only Origins? or Both? If there has to be separate mods for both games could I be pointed in the direction of Awakenings Mods? DarkeWolf
Hiyas Cloud- Welcome aboard to the nexus! Unfortunately no, not all mods apply to both DAO and DAA. DAA made some considerable changes, and not all of the original mods were compatible.Keep in mind that DAO and DAA are pretty much seperate games. DAA isnt really an extension of the game, but its own seperate set of adventures. In many cases, it uses a separate set of files than DAO does, and is even listed as a seperate module, on your addins.xml file (which is the file that tells the game to load your mods and DLC files). On a lot of the older mods, the authors have moved on, and so they havent updated them. In that particular case, we're kinda stuck. Because we cant upload a new version of the mod, without the author's permission. In the case of a lot of the current mods, there will be seperate mod files that you can install that will make the mod compatible with DAA, or newer versions of it, that are DAA compatible. In the case of some mods, they just dont apply to DAA at all, because whatever they affected, isnt IN DAA. For instance, if you had a romance mod with Leliana. That character isnt in the expansion, thus, that mod wouldnt have any affect in it. There is also an issue where a lot of armor and weapons dont show up in DAA from DAO. This is actually not because of the mod itself, but because DAA is set up to BLOCK them. Due to technical issues with incompatibilies in the models or tints that they use compared to new items that they recycled from the original content for Awakening. Basically what you have to do is check the file list for the mod and the description for te mod. You need to look to see if its been updated for DAA. Or if it's got a DAA version of the file in it's download list. Yeah. This pretty much sucks. But one thing I've learned so far, is that Bioware complicates EVERYTHING.
