as1ngh
Hi, I'm just having an issue with my campaign. I can't progress any further because the game is always crashing just before my 2nd Thermo Generator is built, and just before a Request from Asia expires (I have a savegame at the Geoscape after the mission I just completed). I have just finished the XCOM Base Defence mission (and my second save slot = some of my final turns in the mission). I have tried cancelling my Thermo Generator but the game still crashes. And the Request from Asia I can't complete because I don't have the satellites to do so. I have tried reinstalling XCOM Vanilla, verifying steam cache, updating my nvidia drivers and I even reinstalled the OS. Is there anything else I can try to fix the issue? It'll be a shame if I can't continue my game. I've spent a lot of time getting to where I am now... Some of my laptop's specs if they'll help:OS: Ubuntu Linux 14.04 (64 bit)Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce GT555M 2GB (Driver version 343.22)RAM: 8GBProcessor: Intel® Core™ i7-2760QM CPU @ 2.40GHz × 8 Thanks in advance
dubiousintent
You've made a fair start in describing your problem, but we need some more info to help. (Yours is not a common problem.) Please see the wiki article "Troubleshooting Basics". -Dubious-
Zyxpsilon
Well, i strongly believe that the latest NVidia drivers are screwing up a few things on my PC. Just updated to 344.11 (as recommended by GEForce-Experience as usual)... and XCom-EW with LW installed is now crashing to the desktop very often. I think i will have to revert back to an earlier version of their driver unless they reply (soon enough) to a report inquiry i sent this evening. So maybe the OP problems are also related to such driver flaws. PS; Okay, i reverted back to v337.88 (which was stable) only to have it crashed too. I'm thinking it might be another STEAM self-updating mess again. Their stacks have a reputation for flash dumps that screws otherwise smooth operating PCs. At first, i was considering an overheating VCard... but the values are (still) within safety limits that were always stable enough to keep the game active without crashes. Such diagnostics are soooooo complex to determine that it can simply be a temporary state with many mysterious causes. It's upsetting. But i'm sure the errors started to creep up once i pulled the plug on the HDMI connector to a 46" Samsung TV which was locked as a second monitor. OS had some silly troubles resetting the Video array (but, that's normal i hear) and eventually could boot Win7HP just fine after a few tries.Updating the driver might have been the pepper in the sauce after that. I'll probably have to go buy another VCard later this week is these crashes persist. Arrrggghhh, what a mess. PS2; Alright... ONE more stupid crash but i found this at the end of the Launch.LOG; [0151.54] Log: === Critical error: === Fatal error! Address = 0x7cf6ec (filename not found) Address = 0x17559c7 (filename not found) [in G:\Steam\steamapps\common\XCom-Enemy-Unknown\XEW\Binaries\Win32\XComEW.exe] Address = 0x18a10a7 (filename not found) [in G:\Steam\steamapps\common\XCom-Enemy-Unknown\XEW\Binaries\Win32\XComEW.exe]Must be some memory slots failing to find THE file either through a Steam "call-home" gimmicky reset (which isn't supposed to be happening while OFFLine, btw) or McAfee Heuristic AV acting up even if it was deactivated! :( Edited October 12, 2014 by Zyxpsilon
Zyxpsilon
Duh- Just bought and snapped in a new GTX760 card and... eventually, i got another crash situation. The LOG still listed the same critical error shown above. Dunno what it is - at all. AV, Steam, any other system stuff, etc. :pinch:
Naitbit
HiI've had same issue in Beta 13 - Game crashed instead of informing me about Deluge council mission(dam/Annete). It was not connected to council request,or at least fufillig it did not make a difference.Fortunetelly Beta 14 fixed this issue for me. So if you still have this save you may resume your campaign now. A lot of thanks to everyone connected to development of LW. (Although for me it now crashes during this mission when I trigger berserker group, but that is probably unreleated).
