Jusn reinstalled game and...

If you have Vista or Win7 and have installed the game in the default location mods are being blocked by the UAC. The same thing will happen with any moddable game. Best solution, reinstall the game outside of the Default program files location. Most people use C:\Games\Oblivion.

Also, some mods require either the latest patch or OBSE to work. It's good to have both even if they are not required for these mods - as they are needed for others and will not hurt to be installed anyway. Check your documentation to see if they (or something else) is needed>

Ummmmm.... you've slipped out of the Oblivion forums without realizing again, amigo

Allannon- First off, welcome to the nexus forums!

I do want to go ahead and say that ben really knows his stuff, and is a great tech, and guy. Unfortnately, he's referring to a different game, when he mentions OBSE and the C/Games/Oblivion.

Ok, first off, neither of these mods are just plug and play. After looking at the most recent version of Lock Bash, the instructions say that you need to make an edit to your dragonage.ini file located in documents/bioware/dragon age/settings.

http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=301 the necessary edit is listed in its description.

Have you edited your dragonage.ini file, as needed?

And the Unlock spell doesnt automaticly allow you to unlock chests, it adds a set of spells to your skill tree, which need to be learned, in order to be used. Are the spells being added to your mage's available skills to learn in the menu for level up? Also keep in mind, that unless its the PLAYER character (PC) that the mage will NOT have the availability to learn those spells unless you are using a no autolevel mod for your Non Player Characters (NPCs) because they gain their skills and stats, spells and abilities AUTOMATICALLY by default, and those are pre-programmed in, unless you use a no autolevel mod to prevent that.

Now that being said, if you've got them both installed correctly, I would say that you may have a mod conflict going on, since these have some of the same files in them. The game engine for Dragon Age (DA) isn't very smart. When it comes to reading files that override other files, it will only read ONE of the files that overrides that file...not both of them.

So basically what happens is that it will read them in alphabetic order of your folders list in Overrides, read one and go "ok, got it." Then read the next one, and forget about the first one that it read. Or, it will get confused and say "ok, forget it. I dont know what to do, moving on...."

Myself, I very much prefer dragon age mutator for this. Its a standalone program that has several mods included in it. Once you activate the program, you just run through the list and choose which mods to have active and which ones to not have active. Granted, you dont get any xp for unlocking chests using Mutator, but it does work in both DAO and DAA, and is much less complicated.

Good luck

Not a problem. always glad to help out.

Yeah, unfortunately... DA (Dragon Age) is a rather complicated game go to mod sometimes. And it doesnt always behave. Great game to play when it works right tho!

yeah, uninstall those other two and give mutator a try. I've been using it ever since I first started playing the game, and I really like what it does. Tho I've gotten so used to it that I totally forget it's there, hahahaha.

Anyways. Enjoy and good luck
