Custom Weapon Animations

Like the topic says, is it possible to use custom animations, as in for reloading, firing, etc.? I'm using 3ds Max btw. And if so, how? Mainly, I want to know how I can synchronize the weapon animations with the player's hand. Or, somehow animating the hands, although they aren't on any of the custom weapons I've seen so far.

I haven't really looked into this much since I know little about animation in Fallout 3, but I came across this one day. I think it works using scripts to detect a reload animation occurring, then playing a different, specified animation instead. There is an accompanying little demonstration mod somewhere, but for some reason it isn't showing up in my browser history any more, so I can't provide a link. I'm pretty sure it was hosted on The Fallout Nexus though.

Yeah, I actually did find that after I posted this, but now my new problem is that 3ds Max 2010 can't export animations with NifTools, or something. I've tried, and NifSkope just does nothing when I try to play the .kf animation that I made.
