RitualBlack
I was just wondering if Oblivion supports soft body physics (like clothing or hair that "moves naturally") I am assuming that it doesn't, but I felt like making sure
Thoreai
I dont think it has or rather i didnt seen a mod that would done it till now with clothing, it would be a great improvement for the playing and natural feeling of the game, another dream-come-true for me. I would say we can dream of that but then again 4 years ago i tought there wont be mods im looking for and here they are so who knows .. :P
RitualBlack
ya, I didn't think soft body physics would work either  Hopefully TESV will include them
yeldarb
Are you talking about hair that "moves" in conjunction with the body-like Growlfs or Alienslof's wigs, or clothing that reacts to character movement, such as BBB that uses animation for UFF bodies and clothing and applies it to some HGEC clothing and armors? There are also several mods where clothing items have been "modified" to use a special skeleton to allow realistic movement while walking and running. RitualBlack
no, I believe that is weight paint, I am talking "soft body" or cloth(blender has both, and they are somewhat similar) like the clothing of games such as Fable 2, Kingdom Under Fire(circle of doom, don't believe crusaders had it). It is very similar to the modified skeleton, but soft body seems more natural, for example if you had long hair in a game with soft body physics, or a cape and you spun around a lot the clothing or hair would "rise" up the same way it would if someone actually spun in a circle. (then you see fog being animated with bones and say what the...??) so no soft cloth simulations until someone comes up with an obse plugin that unleashes the full potential of the Havok engine (that DOES have the capability but is not used) we need a set of functions that we can tap from in order to accomplish this. problem is mesh manipulation in real time using obse as an engine is in a very early stage, so it could easily take another 4 year until we see some real results. of course... by the time that happens TES 5 will already be out and there would be no point in doing that. Asciri
I remember seeing someone post a video of them demonstrating soft body physics as a WIP, but I don't think they have posted anything since
RitualBlack
Thanks for completely clearing that up VileTouch (kudos  ). I have been tinkering with blenders physics, and it is pretty cool, but too bad oblivion has fully static meshes. And Silver Grace, I think that you are referring to Alex Scorpion's animated hair and armor. It is done really well, but I believe it is still animated, not soft body  . And I was wondering why there hasn't been an obse plug in to allow for it, but like you say, TESV will be out soon. Anyway, thanks for the responses and I will probably still fool around with blender's physics (there is something oddly rewarding about making thinks like a jelly ball roll down a ramp )
