A Serious Request For Companion Tutorial...

Hi,

I've recently been having a lot of fun with a few companion mods in Oblivion, and it's made me realise that 'recruitable' NPCs a la Neverwinter Nights would add a great new element to the game.

Having searched these and other forums it seems there is no companion specific tutorial or faq available, and while I'm sure I could eventually get my head around the construction set via different types of modding (e.g. buildings, graphics and items) I have no modding experience so I'd like to focus on good, balanced companions with simple attached recruiting quests. I have the following goals:

1) To create a default, reliable companion script that governs behaviour.

2) To create a single, balanced companion within each city; Ideally each companion would reflect the traits/ customs of each area (if only in appearance).

3) To attach a 'recruitment quest' script to each character (something like buy X from Y, or Steal A from B etc).

4) To have these companions level up with the player wether they are recruited or not.

5) To make all companions mortal.

6) To limit the ammount of these specific companions that the payer can have follow him/her at one time.

I would really like to achieve something along these lines and make it available to the community, and would appreciate any kind of assitance whatsoever.

I'm going to start tackling the construction set in earnest very soon so I'll probably have a load of questions...

Thanks in advance for replies,

I cannot answer your questions as such. However there are many companion mods out there. You might be better approacing one of the modders directly rather than hoping for replies here.

Thanks for the reply, Malchik. I'll do that.

I spent a few hours squinting at the construction set last night and took apart a few NPCs and other mods I am using, and with the work that's allready been done this shouldn't be too much of a challenge.

Cheers.
