Audacity compatibility

None of the mp3 or wav files I've generated with Audacity 1.2.6 work in game.

This is despite setting mono and 44100 Hz.

On the other hand these files are good enough to...

* work on quite a number of audio software players.

* generate lip files that DO work in game.

[edit]

I've since found "Audio Settings For Dialogue Video Tutorial" on CS Wiki that says 64 bit Constant Bit Rate for mp3.

Audacity does not have a CBR option.

On save the LAME extension has a list of file types, I've selected "Speech" but again the problem remains.

[/edit]

Do I need to change more settings, use an earlier version of Audacity or use another sound editior?

Thanks in advance,

Greg

I tried older versions of LAME with no success.

At this stage I've used the free version of WavePad to edit existing dialogue files with full success.

I'll now go and get a new microphone, hopefully finish my mod and subject people to my woefull voice acting

I am so glad that you started this topic. I've been having the exact same problem with the same version of Audacity. The LIP files work, and I'm able to play back the MP3s in the Construction Set; but the files will not run in-game.

You said that WavePad is working for you? I think I'll give that a try, as I'm about at the end of my rope with Audacity.

Good luck to you.
