Invexendon
I have an idea for a mod. I know on Nexus there are already a lot of magic systems for who chenge the vanilla, but this time should be different. My idea born from a thought: if magic is so simple to learn in Tamriel, so why all people don't use it? Why a farmer should put his efforts in the work of the ground, when a spell should be easier? And what about kings and soldiers? If battlemage are so effective, why not train the entire armies in magic, leaving the weapons at home? Now, we know there are even cultural aspects, for example the Nords fear and disregard magic, but even, if we consider mages: why there are less powerful sorcerers and magic lords like Mannimarcus? It's only a matter of book, apparently. Now, i know just a bit the LORE, and apparently magic in some occasions was an arcane and creepy thing, like with the Dwemers' disappearance. The answer should be, IMO, The Magic Is Dangerous, but I don't feel it so from the game.Is it maybe possible (and has some talented modder the will) to recreate this feeling? It would be a different mgic system, i know. The manner would be having a percentage of success when a spell is casted, depending from the level and abilities of the mage and of the spells and others variables. If the cast is good, there are no penalties, but otherwhise or nothing happens or to the mage happens an accident, that varies depending on the force and the level of the spell. (For example, i fail to cast a small fireball and i will have a minor accident, I fail to cast a firestorm and will happen some very bad thing). That would be applicable on the PG and the NPCs either. And, even at higher levels, no one should be allowed to have the 100% percentage of success. This is the main and generic idea. I have some more specific ideas, but before write them up i would like to see what do you think about, and the feedback, from modders and player, and if it's possible to do it. So please answer and write down your thoughts! Thank you for reading! Edited October 12, 2014 by Elbereth91
