After repeatedly reinstalling, I keep getting missing sounds after a few hours of game play. Usually the gun shots and voices during dialogue discussions will go missing. But Just earlier I was missing walking, opening doors, and other small sounds. It is driving me crazy.

I am running Vista 64 bit, on Fallout with patch 1.7 with the unofficial patch. I'm using fomm with 30~ mods (I'll include the load list at the bottom). Does anyone know what might cause this?

Try disabling the mods and loading up Fallout. There may be a conflict with the mods that are blocking out the sounds, if that doesnt work, download this mod, http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=23

The sounds wont be the original gun shot sounds, but they are still sounds, and i personally think they sound better than the vanilla sounds!

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the quick reply, I think it's actually related to my sound drivers, because when I plug in my earphones the sound issues start up. LOL too bad it took me this long to figure it out. Now I gotta figure out how to fix my sound drivers.... any suggestions on how to find the drivers that control my earphone jacks?

Your normal sound card driver should support all of the ports ON YOUR CARD, i would google your sound card (You can find it out by right clicking on my computer -> properties -> device manager -> sounds and audio devices.

If its not the port on the acctual card (its in the front of the computer) then it will probably be your chipset driver, (To find out what chipset you have, download this http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html and go to the tab "mainboard", it should have your chipset model, just google the latest drivers for that, or go to your computer manufacturers website, they usually have drivers for your specific service tag.

Hope this helps!
