bben46
You cannot install Oblivion on the desktop. It must be installed in a folder on your hard drive. A shortcut icon is placed on your desktop that tells the computer where to find it. By default (means it will be installed there unless you tell it somewhere else) The installer places it in C:\Program Files (x86)\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion This location is protected by a feature that does not allow changes such as mods without special permission - just running as an administrator will not work. I recommend Installing it in C:\Games\Oblivion instead. You MUST create this location first. The icon that it installs on the desktop will point to it there if you install it there. However if you try to move it, it won't work. Best, Uninstall first, then reinstall in the new location. Now as to the ~ key. on any system that uses an infrared (IR) receiver, for some reason Microsoft disables this particular key. If you use a Media Center PC, you can unplug the IR receiver and the key will work. If you have a laptop, you must go into the system settings to disable the IR. OR - much simpler, use the ring of console mod. As for OBSE, it is not a mod and does not install like a mod. After installing it, in order to use the original icon on your desktop you MUST change the target to point to OBSE instead of Oblivion or OBSE will not work. For instructions on how to do almost everything from installing Oblivion properly, installing OBSE properly, downloading and installing mods and troubleshooting you have been given a link to the best available set of instructions. If you missed it, here it is again Click on this link http://tesivpositive.animolious.com/ - But you have to do the work. Using mods is not like a console where you stick in a cd and it works. You will actually have to learn something (very little) about the PC file structure and how it stores programs to be able to work with mods.
