shaftedarrow
I've noticed that there are several hotkey mods on the nexus and wanted to ask the forum community for input on their favorite one. If you don't mind, list the name of the mod you like and its key features that make it unique. If possible, I'd like to find one that lets me use alt/shift/ctrl + 1-0 bindings so that I can easily layout spells in types for each function key. Thanks for any recommendations! P.S. I'm not ignoring the "search and look around yourself" method. I'm doing that, but I'd like input from other people that have used the mods already. chaospearl
I use Expanded Hotkeys and Spell Delete V2a myself and it works beautifully. It does exactly what you are asking for -- allows you to use the 1 - 9 number keys with modifiers. For instance, 1 is Spell A, Shift+1 is Spell B, Alt+1 is Spell C. It will also allow you to hotkey equippable items, and full sets of items. Press a single hotkey to equip your cuirass, greaves, and helm, that sort of thing. This is the only hotkey mod I've ever used so I can't compare it to others, unfortunately. For all I know the others are better or do the same thing. If you choose to download it, make sure of which version you get. The original mod by scruggs is now obsolete and won't work with the current patched Oblivion. There is also an updated version by OutofPhase with the same name -- Expanded Hotkeys and Spell Delete V2 -- but the modder who updated it re-mapped the hotkeys so that you can only use numbers 1 - 4 and the other hotkeys are letters. That makes it easier to hit the keys since they're closer to the movement keys (WASD), but some people prefer the standard number hotkeys. So it's been updated yet a third time by Officerping who put the original hotkeys 1 - 9 back. The version I use (the third one by officerping, linked above) isn't hosted on the Nexus or if it is, I couldn't find it here. I downloaded it at Planet Elder Scrolls. steelstiletto
I use YAHKM (Yet Another Hot Key Mod) 1.10b. It has a glitch that is a bit confusing at first, but once I figured out how to work around it, it works perfectly. Essentially, you use the default 1-8 keys, but have an extra key that cycles to a different row, giving you a new full set of 1-8. Doing that, you have 4 rows of 8 keys each, or 32 total spots, that you assign just as you normally would. My favorite feature is that if you have four spells assigned to the number 1 spot (one in each row), then each time you hit 1, it will cycle just that spot. So, you can have a Restore health, restore fatigue, restore health on target, and a fortify magica spells, and just cycle through to them. Or, if you want armor sets, then when you hit the row change key (which I think is v by default), it will equip all of the equipment in the new row. The glitch is that once you have your hotkeys set up and start using them, (I think this is how it's happening) it creates a temporary row. So, when you try to make a change by adding a different spell, if you cycle then the change is lost. The easy fix is to just cycle through your keys 4 times (hit v four times) before you assign any new keys, and that has always fixed the issue for me.
