well, i can't really say what's causing it, but you could try a MasterUpdate, which does solve such problems

get FO3Edit if you don't have it already, and do a MasterUpdate, and see if it solves the problem

now, just wandering, how can you say for sure, that it isn't a mod problem?

also, do you have autosaves on or off?

Most likely its a corrupt save. There are two things you can try to correct a corrupt save.

1 - Kill yourself

2 - Go to an empty interior cell like the megaton player house and wait 3+ days, save and exit the game. Restart the game and load you new save, try to fast travel.

Sometimes you have to #1 before doing #2.

I have the same problem with a fast travel crash. I made a little house in the fallout 3 anchorage dlc with the geck. after that i could never fast travel again in fallout 3. and in some mysterious way it moved onto my fallout new vegas, where i tried re-installing the game and remove all mods, but i still have the fast travel crash...
