Katuko
This worked properly before, I'm not sure what has changed it. Recently I've noticed something weird about all textures that have transparency (alpha) applied. Instead of actually being drawn with proper alpha transparency, the effect is instead achieved by removing every other pixel from the drawn item. This seems like a filter used for lower-end machines, and really messes up the looks of glowing effects like laser and plasma weapons.I believe it started occurring after I installed the EVE plugin (Energy Visuals Enhanced) or possibly Fellout. Thos are the only two mods I have that change lighting. From what I know you can choose your pixel filters/shaders in the game settings, but unfortunately there is a small problem there: I have the Fallout Mod Manager installed, and have replaced the default Fallout Launcher with the script extender. In order to avoid problems with certain mods, I also installed Fallout 3 in a desktop folder rather than Program Files. This leads to me starting the default Fallout Launcher to access the settings, but then just getting told to install the game first. Apparently the launcher only checks Program Files for the installation and won't let me choose a different directory to search. So it boils down to this: Could anyone please tell me how to choose a shader that will apply proper alpha transparency rather than pixel removal; without using the launcher? I'm guessing it will involve editing a settings file somewhere, but I'm not sure where to start. :)
Katuko
Sorry to bump, but I haven't gotten a reply yet and I've been unable to solve the problem on my own. :(
Trm8r
Try using FOMM -Homepage: http://sourceforge.net/projects/fomm/ . You can access the game settings from its menu.
Katuko
Thanks, but I already the mod manager. I guess I'm simply confused as to where I can edit those settings, as when I try to open shader packages I get some sort of menu I can't really use (it's blank even when I load a package into it).Could you please give me a very simple walkthrough of what menus to operate, and what the default shader package is? :)
falloutperson416
I have an image attached as to how to access the game settings via FOMM.
Katuko
I have an image attached as to how to access the game settings via FOMM. Ah, I have an earlier version of the FOMM. That menu simply isn't there. I'll go download the newest version instead. Thanks for your help. :)
