Flashing random screen when hit

I can't seem to find a previous topic on this issue. When I'm supposed to register a hit from an enemy, my screen flashes between the current scene and a static image of a scene several minutes before (the static image varies, but it's always something from a few minutes previous). Occasionally, my screen will flash a brownish color instead.

I thought it might be an issue related to using 3.0 shaders. I changed back to the default 2.0 shader setup, and I still get the flashing problem. I am running a pretty heavily-modded setup, but I think the problem probably lies elsewhere (maybe in my ini file).

It could be related to OBGEv2, but I don't have any effects enabled.

My HUD and interface are not affected by the flashing issue.

I tried regenerating my ini and get a CTD when trying to load saves. I also tried copying directly from the default ini and still get a CTD trying to load saves.

My working ini (except for the flashing screen issue) is as follows:

  Reveal hidden contents

Looking over the ini file, it's clear that the Gethitshader is the culprit. Nevertheless, I'm at a bit of a loss as to how to solve the issue. Does anyone have experience with a similar issue?

Try a clean boot - http://www.ehow.com/how_5331553_clean-boot-windows.html

Have you tried updating or rolling back your video card drivers?

The CTD after regenerating the INI sounds like you have a mod installed that made tweaks to it that were lost. Do you use a UI mod? Also, regenerate your INI. Do not copy the default INI. Just leave that alone. If you use DarNifiedUI or another UI mod that makes font tweaks, reinstall it. If you have a mod whose installation is configured for your UI mod, reinstall that mod as well after reinstalling the UI mod.

Thanks for the help!

It turns out, disabling anti-aliasing and HDR and booting up the game fixed the issue. I re-enabled HDR and everything works fine, but I think I'll hold off on re-enabling AA for a bit (I had AA forced on through my graphics card control panel). HDR/AA worked fine for ages, but I guess it decided to act up today for some reason.

Anyone experiencing a similar issue should definitely try disabling HDR and starting up the game.

Thanks again.

AA+HDR gives many trouble. I think it is related to drivers though... Of course, certain graphics cards cannot handle AA well anyway.
