phoneyLogic
Thanks for the videos. If someone is courios about that people can walk there:There are save areas in the zone there you have almost normal values of radiation. The radiation spread patchy and the isotopes are still wandering. The situation changes dramatically from one place to another.
Infinit350
Is it possible for radiation to actually last 200 years after a Nuclear War? I mean wouldn't the radiation already have had time to to wear away? I ask this just out of curiosity because me and a friend were talking about Fallout and he said that the only thing about Fallout that annoys him is that radiation is still around after 200 years when it should already have died out . And I could not argue with him because I know nothing about radiation and how it works. So is it just something that applies to the Fallout universe or does radiation actually last that long? Elsarian There are still trace amounts of radioactivity in Hiroshima and Nagasaki from 70 years ago, and both bombs exploded at about 600m above ground level, AND only about 10% of the nuclear material underwent fission. Not to mention both of the bombs were incredibly weak compared to the average nuke today, much less 60 years from now (When the Fallout 3 war occurred, if I remember correctly. Now take into account that Fat man was a measly 21 kilotons, compared to Tsar Bomba (The most powerful nuclear weapon ever detonated), which was 50 megatons TNT. Now if you don't already know, the difference between a kiloton and a megaton is ridiculous, the difference between 21 kilotons and 50 megatons is...crazy.These 'newer' nuclear weapons undergo multiple stages of fission, unlike the bombs dropped on Japan, which creates a huge difference in the fallout generated. In short, if hundreds of todays nuclear weapons went off, then no, the radiation would still be present, in fact, it would probably still be unlivable on the surface, with the exception of the poles. Elsarian Most people don't understand that radiation is a very powerful combination of molecules and is one of the most longest lasting substances in the known universe. Radiation can last for thousands of years, in water, land, or the atmosphere. The problem is, it is very difficult to get rid of.
