Why I think that DA2's protagonist has been designed as such...

I'm also glad to hear that Brokenenergy that a dlc will be the ending of our Warden as it shall be a nice good bye for that part of Dragon Age. I feel that while we can discuss speculation all we want on here and on Bioware forums, but we don't know how they're taking the new stuff and implementing it in so no reason to be upset and punch babies yet folks.

Emm... what? When did I say that a DLC would end the Warden and Morrigan subplot? I just said that if they made a DLC which ended the Warden and DR path, then BW would have to prepare for a huge backlash because lots of people when down that path and they would all feel cheated and it is the most cheapest way to kill something you know. I'm still in the whole DA:O + DA2 = DA3 camp. People are really attached to their character and if BW goes down this path, then prepare for war BW.

I must stress that it has been insinuated that DLC will be the medium for any further adventures of the DA:O Grey Warden. I also must clarify that these comments were made specifically about the Warden, and not about Morrigan. The only real comment I've heard about Morrigan came from an interview with one of the devs (I can't recall which one) and it was in response to a question that went something along the lines of "What can you tell us about any of the characters from DA:O returning in DA2?" The response was "Well, we aren't done with Morrigan's story yet, I can tell you that much."

Nice and vague, eh? >.<

Also, it was largely a given we'd see Morrigan, Alistair, possible Leliana or Sten, at the beginning of DA2. The game begins with Hawke in Lotehring, right before the Blight overwhelms it. Something about seeing familiar evetns from a different angle, if I recall Gaider's words (from the BW forum) correctly. Her (Morrigan's) appearance in Lothering could be all of 5 minutes long. Or it could be longer.

I don't care, to be honest. While I never do the Dark Ritual, personally, (I did, once, for the achievment) I know it was a very popular choice. But it loses so much of it's relevance if the original Warden isn't involved. So if she's in DA2 for any length of time, I'm going to be more annoyed than anything else.

Of course, that's if the DR is cannonized, which is still uncertain at this time. They've been damnably careful to not leak any info that could pin down if any of the possible endings are considered "more real" than any of the others. It is cannon that she survived the Archdemon's death, so she could pop up, I suppose.

ME=dialogue wheel, paragon/renegade choices, voiced protagonist, meh story etc

Well the dialogue wheel is a given at this point, as is the VO main character. The two of them go hand in hand, really. But the Paragon/Renegade thing I can tell you isn't going to happen. You can still pick the style of comment you want without worrying about a morality measurement. As for the story; I have faith! The writing teams haven't changed afterall. The same people that wrote DA:O are writing DA2.

Yea I know about there not being any paragon/renegade choices and the writing team for DA2 hasn't really changed, but is the franchise going to end up like NWN or Kotor? At least in NWN there was some closure but we had more questions than answers in Kotor 2 and I hope that DA2 doesn't fall in the same trap as Kotor2 (even though Obsidian made Kotor2, not BW). That is the big (if not the biggest) worry for me. I'm still bummed that there is no descent closure for the Warden then again we could be all wrong and the Warden's story will continue beyond DLCs and expansions (they have not ruled it out yet).

Right now I'm becoming a Gaider tracker and trying to interpret his posts. I'll look up the forums to see what I can find, but by the looks of it Gaider has a bigger plan in mind and we need to all wait in Aug 17th or Comic con for further information.

Never played NWN, but you are right on about KOTOR 2. Plus that game was released unfinished. There was so much left out at release that there were too many story gaps and possible scenarios left unexplored. The files were still in the game, just never activated since many of the scenes were incomplete, no VO, etc. BW giving the release date already gives me a fear that the same thing could happen with DA2. KOTOR 2 had a great story, but not completing the game left it very wanting. As for the writing team, considering how much time they spent writing origins (assuming that was all they worked on, not the entire epic) then the time crunch for DA2 leaves me to wonder just how good it will be in comparison to DAO. Using DAA as a reference, I am not optimistic.

They started DA2 two years ago (again DA:O was suppose to be released in March 09 for PC but was put off due to a simultaneous release date with console platforms) so there is no worry at that part. Let's just see if this is going to set up a new standard in RPG's or is it going to end up like Fable 2.
