bunkrbustr
Yeah, I'm requesting a mod to make Oblivion compatble with my old '05 or '03 Compaq... I got an Intel 845G Graphics controller*... I start game, crashes and asks if I want to send an error report... I view readme file, says my computer's old (not in so many words) Just wondering if there's a mod that allows it to be compatible with my graphics card, or If I gotta build a computer from scratch, cuz they don't make ANYTHING for my computer anymore... * Name: Intel 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV graphics controllerChip Type: Intel 82845G Graphics Controller
kieranfoy
Yeah, that's not possible. There're mods to make Oblivion's graphics work better on older computers, but as old as yours? Not enough newness.

kieranfoy
Nope. Damn you old computer. Can't make flute music on a trombone, man. Get a new computer. They're getting cheaper, desktops are.
bunkrbustr
yeah? what's the general price? -.- both new and built by yourself (rough estimates)
kieranfoy
No idea about building it yourself, because I'm co computer whiz, but I recall that you can get a mid-range desktop for around five-hundred or so, maybe cheaper. I remember when they ran around $1200.
bben46
Anything you buy pre built for less than $500 US will be marginal and not very upgradable. Built by you, $250 US and up, depending on what you can salvage from your old computer - hard drives, CD drive, keyboard, mouse, monitor, Case etc. I recommend a new power supply though as an '05 computer will likely have a 250 watt or less supply and you want a 450W or better for the new graphics cards and upgrade capability. Both Tigerdirect and Newegg offer bare bones systems that will not have certain parts so you can use some of the parts from your old computer. Both have good customer service and good return policies. I personally prefer TigerDirect for barebone computers, and Newegg for certain other components. I'll run around the city and window shop a bit before making any purchases
