Hi all,

I'm relatively new to the world of modding, at some point I hope to try and create one for myself, but for now I'm simply enjoying all the hard work everyone has put in and made a great game truly amazing - thanks to all of you.

My question is this... What Mods would you recommend to me? I understand it's different for everyone and it also depends on what your system specs are.

So first things first... My PC. AMD Processor A10-6700 with Radeon HD Graphics 3.70 GHz, RAM 6.00GB 5.19 usable.

Second thing second... I have Vanilla Skyrim - as I had all the DLC on Xbox 360 and didn't think much of any of it to be honest, not enough to replay it again.

Third thing third... I have installed SKSE and BOSS.

Fourth thing fourth... I currently have these mods and am reasonably happy with them... SKYUI, Convenient Horses, Immersive creatures, Animated Prostitution, Dance of Death, aMididanborn textures for immersive armours, Immersive armours, fantasy soundtrack project, Bandolier, cloaks of skyrim, winter is coming, deadly mutilation, tecero ENB, realistic water 2, alternate start, treebalance, hunting in skyrim, stormcloak armour variety, all hairs for non beast races, beards, eyes of beauty, cannabis skyrim, extended encounters, frostfall, gangs of skyrim, height adjusted races, pipe smoking, rainbows, immersive thunder, shooting stars, wet and cold vanilla and holidays, apachi skyhair, better males, calientes beautiful bodies, enhanced night skyrim, climates of tamriel, skyrim skooma overhaul, unofficial high resolution patch, official high resolution dlc, helgen reborn, a quality world map, race menu, enhanced blood textures, pure waters 2, static mesh improvement mod and immersive weapons.

Last but not least... I have restarted the game as a warrior Nord. No magic whatsoever... I'm only level 5 so far. I intend to complete the Civil War first, then see where it takes me. My character is rough, a merc of sorts, out for himself with a soft spot for women... or likes their soft spots.

I like any mod that allows me to improve the look and feel of my character, hence a lot of those types of character and immersion mods... I loved A Follower Mod that gave me control over how many followers I had and what they wore, but I think it was conflicting with something.

I'd also like to get the most out of my graphics card and RAM without slowing the game down too much if I can help it, because I need the speed to keep up with all the other Mods and be able to enjoy the game... Playability is far more important to me than graphics, but I am willing to sacrifice some of my Mods to get a nicer looking game. I understand ENB has a big impact on graphics, but I 'm very unsure about ENB's and could do with some advice.

I don't think all my Mods are working, but I'm not having regular game crashes, like I was before with some Mods that were clearly conflicting or overloading my system.

Can anyone help, perhaps share some ideas with me to best improve my game, hopefully I've given you some sort of idea about the kind of thing I am after... What would you recommend, is there something glaringly obvious I'm missing out on? Anyone think they already have the ideal set up graphics and gameplay wise - something likely to work with my game?

SkyRe, and Duel Combat Realism is nice, it forces you to have followers and fight smart or get wrecked.

I also downloaded a mod called Stormcloak Friends, it puts like five stormcloak followers in Whiterun, and with the Ultimate Follower Overhaul, you can bring as many of them with you as you want which will be cool for your Civil War play through. I am actually doing the same thing as you.

Download Deadly Mutilation, The Dance of Death, and Enhanced Blood Textures - It makes blood fly everywhere, and stay on your weapons/armors as well as chopping people in half or cutting off heads/arms with epic finisher moves.

I use a combination of heavy/light armor because it looks cool, but it would probably better to just use a full set of iron armor for the looks and stats.

Other than that, I use duel wield War Axes and a Crossbow. The reason I use a crossbow is because you don't have to be as skilled to use a crossbow compared to a regular bow so it makes sense for a warrior focussed guy, and in the huge wars, like the Battle for Whiterun, and Falkereath, you really need to have a bow or you'll die really fast. When there is a ton of enemies fighting the storm cloaks I usually back out and start picking them off with the crossbow then when it seems safe to rush in, I finish them off with the axe.

I also have a mod that allows me to block while using dual wield weapons:

Duel Wield Parrying and Duel Wield Blocking Animations

I use Dodge Mod as well which allows you to push A S or D + your Jump button to perform a quick dodge which is really nice if you're dual wielding and need to dodge a 2 handed guys power attack.

And to get better FPS and stuff I use a mod called Optimized Vanilla Textures which reduces the file sizes or something for better performance...

Another good thing to is go to the Real Vision ENB page, and read it a bit until you find something about Optimizing your game, and click the link. Follow all of the instructions on that page and it will help you get your game running smoothly, and increase fps a bit aswell as prevent crashing and bugs...

Also watch some of Gopher's videos, search his channel on youtube type "Skyrim Gopher" or something. I learned everything about modding from his tutorials, and reading on the forums etc. it will help you a lot, i am new aswell but i learned how to stop CTD and other things from his videos of using TES5Edit and Loot.

You should also download the mod Immersive Patrols, bassically you will see like 10 Imperials or Thalmor or Stormcloak walking from each of their camps/holds to another in a group and sometimes they cross paths you'll see a big fight.

Also download Civil War Overhaul, you will see big battles randomly in the fields and stuff Storm Cloaks vs Imperials

There is no way you would like exactly the mods I use, just as I would not care for all of the mods you like. But, we do actually have a place to see just what the most popular mods (Top Files) are for every game we support.

To find them for any game - from that game's front page - Hover ( do not click) over the 'Files' tab at the top of the page - you will see 'Top Files' in the drop down menu - click on that.

Or just use this shortcut for Skyrim: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/top/?
