usprivateer
So far so good for me. Absolutely no issues. DLC is fine no mod conflicts that I can see. Bumped up the graphics a notch and Sandal isn't crying. I did however back up the complete installation just in case. Question: after installing I don't see information in the readme saying the dagger sex thing was fixed. Was it?
SkullKnight
I went ahead and installed the patch because I want to play awakening, which is a bit too buggy in 1.03. So far, I havent noticed any problems with it (1.03 was never really a problem for me either, so idk). I didnt get any crashes, so I suppose thats a good thing. Im probably not going back to origins until Qwinn updates his fixpack with compatibility information though, to make sure that doesnt mess anything up. And...I hope you meant "dagger dex", not what you wrote :P. I also switched difficulties to "Nightmare", and frankly, I dont notice a difference between "Nightmare" and "Normal". usprivateer
Well, that would be unpleasant. Damn iPhone. I've been playing for around 2 hours. No problems. I read Quinn's readme and it seems to say it should be ok with updates and patches. I'd give it a run.

I'd give it a run. 1.04 didnt fix any of the bugs fixed by Qwinn's fixpack, so Id assume that they wouldnt conflict. But, I still think I want to finish the story of my human warrior before I make another character. I like how things from the OC carry over to the expansion. It makes it seem more like a continuation of the storyline. Its too bad we wont be able to import our characters into DA2 lol. I also havent tried making a new character into Awakening. I would assume that the dialog would be very different that way. Anyways, I hope they make a 1.05 that fixes some of the other glaring issues that have been reported but are still yet unresolved. Ive noticed that large RPGs like this tend to have lots and lots of bugs, just due to the nature of the game (oblivion's unofficial patches profess to fix over 2000 errors still present in the final official release :P). So, I guess we have to be patient. Theres also a lack of mods for Awakening, due to the toolset not being updated I presume...
usprivateer
Busy getting a beat down here. Urn mountain, Mage with the sword up on the dias. Poisen back stabbed him, flurry and riposte and a nice finishing move. Very proud of myself and took screenies. Then looked down and saw a whole host of drakes. Everybody died. Sandal cried. Think I'll read a book. 1.04 working well though.

Tried to pull a few times there, but it always failed. I just ended up rushing the overseer dude and it somehow worked lol. I dont know if this is a bug, but for some reason the first gift I gave oghren in awakening gave +6 approval, and so did the second. Dont they normally start at +10 and then go down for each one (the specific character gifts, not the generic ones)? Gifts for the other characters seemed to work ok though. Also, Im a bit miffed that I dont have any girls in my party lol :P.
usprivateer
I thought the gifts only give 10 if it's a specific gift the toon likes. I'm getting less drops with 1.04 than before. 9 bodies one drop. Seems like more money tho. Maybe just my imagination.
Thandal
Maybe Thandal can help us. I downloaded Qwinn's fixpack for 1.03 too but I won't install it until I know more.Ok, YMMV, and all that "use at own risk" disclaimer stuff. I've been running the FO3 Large Memory Area Flag fix since about a week after 1.03 came out. That was because I had immediate (I mean, immediate) CtDs. Combat with AoE spells, Transitions, Auto-Saves. Seemed like almost anything at all might trigger a total crash. Editing the .exe with the FO3 Fix cleared that up for me almost completely, and I've been enjoying DA:O/A (and now, LS) ever since. About two weeks ago I decided to try Qwinn's FixPack (v2.0). No "problems" to report, but haven't noticed any real changes either. But I just continued my current playthrough, so I may have already passed the points where things might have been different. (We'll see what happens at the Gates and Epilogues.) So Monday I downloaded 1.04. Reverted my daorigins.exe to the original, (not the modified version) and patched up. Had a CtD during my first major battle with lots of effects happening at once. ( My personal opinion is that the crashes on my system are caused by the sound-effect triggers, but I can't prove it.) Re-tweaked the .exe, and game is again playable. Spent about eight hours straight with 1.04(p) (for "personalized") yesterday, and another four+ this evening. All with Qwinn's Fixpack installed. Had more CtDs than I had experienced with 1.03(p), but can't say whether that has anything to do with the mod, may just be the patch... Oh, I also noticed more lagging (low FPS, jerkiness to motion) than I had seen with 1.03. And speaking of actual contents of "the patch", over on the BioWare Social forums under "Crashes with 1.04" I saw one (but only one) mention of a (the?) main script file (".erf") being the one from 1.02, instead of 1.03. This a) may not be true. b) may be because BioWare figured out that the file was part of the problem, or c) may be "sort of true" because the poster of that bit of info got part of the facts right, but interrpreted them incorrectly. Anyway, to summarize my experience to-date: a. Patch 1.04 did NOT make the underlying problem I had with 1.03 (CtDs) go away. In fact, I was running smoother with a (very slightly) modifed 1.03 .exe file. b. Patch 1.04 did NOT seem to make a difference in the dagger damage I was doing with a DW Rogue (Level 15, Str: 21, Dex: 53). Re-fought the same battle with the same two daggers under both patches. For each hit, was doing 12-18 pts with Main Hand, and 10-14 with Off Hand (plus "coloured" damage from the special weapon properties). Didn't matter which patch. c. Qwinn's Fixpack v2 didn't seem to have an impact (which is pretty much what I expected, since his fixes aren't the kind that might "break" things.) d. My impression is that a "working" 1.03 is a least as good as 1.04, but if 1.04 fixes someone's particular problem(s), than that's a good thing too! e. Before I make my final call on this patch, I'm going to do a complete un-install/re-install, no mods (DLC only) then patch straight to 1.04 and see what happens. Highly recommend anyone who is serious about "tweaking" his/her experience do the same. Too many uncontrolled external factors to consider otherwise. (And before I get the rant-mail, I totally agree that players shouldn't HAVE to tweak their games this way. They oughta' just work OOB! And yes, I know that console players don't even have the option to use Community mods at all!)

In DAO I start at +10 and then +9, +8 etc on down to +6 unless it is one of those anyone gifts like the pantaloons or the cake +1 or rarely +2.
