endarax
Hi this is my first mod attempt with Fallout 3 and I'm making a TAR-21 assault rifle. I'm using the vanilla assault rifle base and making my own form. I'm using the vanilla AR sounds because I don't have a problem with them. (Unlike some of the mods I have downloaded, eww) and some realistic stats. I went to change the models to my tar 21 model but how do I add textures in the G.E.C.K? The only textures in the list are the vanilla ones. How do I put my textures into the list? Do I need to add the textures to the model in NifSkope? And also if anyone could tell me more on how to make custom pipboy icons that'd be cool also. Sorry if any questions are not clear or are just stupid. If they're not clear ask me to elaborate and if they're stupid, its my first time making my own mod so leave me alone :( Anyway if anyone could help me, Thanks! -endarax
pkleiss
Since you are making your own weapon, I would recommend that use add the textures to your weapon directly using Nifskope. Find ALL of the BSShadertextureSet Nodes and expand the tree. You can edit an individual texture by clicking on its purple flower. Hopefully you have equivalent diffuse, normal and any other textures files to use with your gun.
endarax
Since I SERIOUSLY am new to making my own and using custom models and textures, I'm assuming the equivalent diffuse is my _n.dds texture and normal is my .dds (I was given the textures by a friend). And with adding individual textures, do I use the normal file? And if so, where do i add the _n.dds file?
