Installing mods HELP!!!

Recommended Posts

I am running Win7 Pro, 64 bit. I have had NO problems such as you describe. The main difference my be that instead of disabling UAC for security reasons I installed to C:\Games\Fallout3.

There can be other security programs that will block things besides UAC, Such as firewalls, Antivirus, antispyware and computer policy settings.

Using FOMM is not required to use mods, It is supposed to make things easier - not more difficult as in your case. Have you tried a manual install of the mods?

in the xp home 32 bit version I get on just regularly....install the 1st and second disk and just play. I know that I need to patch becouse fomm and active say I need the patch. also when i go to install the second cd it says a popup to patch. this is all crazy...lol. I am now going to try the win 7 64 bit machine moding.

I have a clean install...just the first dvd of the goty is installed. no patch. I played until exit of vault. The game is installed in a custom dir as well...c:\fallout 3.

I am going to install FOMM and a non drastic mod...conraid radio. then see what happens....please stand by....11:39am central.

ok installed FOMM..it installed to c:\fallout 3\fomm... I then launched the game normally and thru fromm and all is good. I will now install a mod.

11:54am well....without using anything but fomm....and no patching..and the extra dlc dvd included in goty...I have installed and verified to be working my very first mod...conelrad radio mod...katrina has a sexy voice too...lol. so win 7 64 bit is now working with fomm. so i have made a backup of the entire direcory...and will now try a few more mods...all with no other programs such as activateinvalid or anything..even if they say its needed. the conelrad said I had to patch and all that so hmmm. agian...ty very much to those who have replied...you guys are great.
