Invisible body

i downloaded and installed roberts female body mod, and then decided i want to edit the upperbody a bit. so loaded it up in blender, did my editing, and exported it as a NIF again. i replaced the original file with my one but now when i load up the game my character has no upper body.

-i have saved it as a nif.

-i have put the file in the right place

-i have given the file the correct name

-i have spent i long time looking around the internet for a fix.

what am i doing wrong?

thanks in advance.

Check the texture paths on the NIF. Make sure they start at or below textures, I can't remember off the top of my head, at the moment.

i did what you said and then realized i hadnt even done the texture paths. so i did them and loaded the game up and... still invisible

EDIT: ive now got the body to load, however, in game it is mangled beyond recognition.

I presume you mean the textures are not displaying properly. Did provide adjusted normal maps or mappings for your modified mesh?

no the textures are displaying properly, its just that the mesh they are on is completely mangled. this is only in game though, when i open it up in nifscope it looks fine.

Man, I really do not do any modding, and modeling is even further out of my scope. There should definitely be a few individuals around here who could tell you what the problem is. They might be at work or something, just wait a while. I wish I could help more. I'll just have to remember the solution this time, after someone comes and helps you through it.

Good luck!

Ok... there's this easy thing called bone weight copy - thank UK47 for this one.

Open your nif up in blender, and delete the skeleton data. Then press f9 to bring up the edit panel in the lower side of your screen, and there find linking and material. Your should see something there like bip pelvis and stuff - if you have your nif selected that is, make sure you did so. Then press delete, and do so untill the list is clear.

Now split your view window - rightclick near the top or bottom and select split. In the second window open up the scripts window (you can find that under the button to the far down/left of your window)

Now, import the original mesh (redownload if you dont have it anymore) and keep the skeleton. Select both the original body and your body, and go to your scripts window. It is completely empty, yep, what you want is a button called scripts in the lower part. Click it and go to object > bone weight copy. Set quality to 1 and press the no x crossing button. Then let blender be blender untill it's done. Remove the original mesh (not yours, the one you based it off), and select both the skeleton and your body. Press crtl + p, and select armature, don't create vertex groups.

Now export, and you're done!
