HELP!!! Obse Problems

:wallbash: Please help me! I downloaded obse because it was needed for a mod i wanted to try but now it doesnt let me open the thing where i can choose my data files and settings without opening the game it just starts the game immediatly. I dont like this and i wish to uninstall obse but it doesnt say a way how to. Please help! :confused:

You have to go into your Oblivion install directory (Usually located in "C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion") and open "OblivionLauncher.exe". Form there you should be able to set video settings and whatnot, but DO NOT START THE GAME WITH THIS MENU. Start it using "obse_loader.exe", which can be found in the same place as the launcher, or your mods that use OBSE wont work.

You need to make the "play" on the oblivion launcer use the OBSE exe instead of the Oblivionlauncher.exe. It sounds like you have pinned the OBSE launcher to the desktop icon instead of the menu options that are brought up when you click on the desktop icon.

You can download an Oblivion launcher that can launch Oblivion with OBSE as well, but why do you need the settings menus?

Make sure your game is patched to the latest version? What version of Oblivion are you using?

 

I have Oblivion GOTY Edition. And I'm pretty sure i have it patched up. Another thing i should note is i changed the icon's targer as it said I should to the Obse_launcher.Exe. It was origiannly Oblivion.Exe. I tried changing it back to Oblivion.exe to fix it but that didn't work.

i got the launcher working again. but its not obse i still have the files on it. if it is possible could u tell me how to make the play button on the launcher use obse?

Make a shortcut that launches OBSE with Oblivion.exe. There are probable instructions floating in one of the OBSE thread or in the docs.

 

 

Edit: wording, It would really be simpler if you only used the launcher to make settings changes and used a shortcut pointing to obse_loader.exe to launch the game itself.

You could install Oblivion Mod Manager or Wrye Bash and launch the game with either of these programs instead of the default. If you are going to be adding mods to Oblivion learning how to use both utilities early is a good option anyways. I use a shortcut to Wrye Bash to start my game, and I have access to BOSS,OBMM, and the CS from Wrye Bash.

Alright I got it all fixed up :biggrin: i have one icon the default one that opens the launcher and one that starts the game with obse. Both work fine and all seems good so far. thank you so much for your help. I greatly appreciate it.
