optio366
On Vista They are in C:Users\"user name"\Documents\My Games\Oblivion\Savescool, so what's the difference between the obse and the ess save?
Tomlong54210
What do you mean? Once is a save file and the other is a library extension... sort of. It extends script functionality, providing lots of new functions, etc.

Tomlong54210
The .obse file just has information associated with the save files (ESS) for OBSE (and OBSE Plugins and OBSE-dependent plugins, I suppose.) That is not a save file. Edit: It is not a save game file, itself, but, rather, it is a file for the associated save.
yeldarb
This is normal. When you add some more mods you will have four differrent "saves" for the same game. The ess is the actual save game, but the extras are for telling plugins and utilities what the character has and how the some of the programs should treat the save when you do play. I could hint at a program like Wrye Morph.EDIT Look at the difference in size between the ess file and the OBSE file.
