Minigun Wind up

Hello everyone,

 

I'm struggling to get my minigun winds up before firing.

 

Many topics (even on this forum) talks about it, but no one suggests a solution.

 

I found "evidence" of windup being possible :

 

This mod alters the minigun firing sound, adding a windup sound before firing :

If you go to the "Posts" tab of this mod, most of the people are saying it does not work, the windup sound playing above the silent firing animation.

But, 2 people (in addition to the mod creator) are saying it works.

 

Next, on this video (look at 0:49) :

You can see (and hear) that there is a windup.

 

So, is there a way to get this windup working ?

 

Maybe the solution is included in another mod ?

 

Some say that we must retrieve some files from Fallout 3, where it worked, but how ? And where can we find those files ?

I used to have that mod (or something similar, I don't remember) and it didn't worked correctly.
What I got was:

Wind up sound

shooting for 2-3 seconds

Wind up sound

shooting for 2-3 seconds

 

...and so on.

And all that in loop while I was holding a fire button.

oh, simple, you need to add LOOP POINTS

 

Loop Points are the triggers that tell a looping sound when to start an stop.

such as Flamer, Minigun, ect ect.

 

Go grab wavosaur (free app, much like Audacity!) and simply click the button where you want it to Loop Start and Loop End.

Then in GECK input those times (although it generally detects the points you inserted.)

 

I've done it countless times for FO3 and FNV, its easy really. Have fun!

No you don't get it.

 

It's not just a sound problem, for me it's both animation and sound.

 

Check this video :

 

 

Right from the start, you don't hear the windup.

The minigun fires directly.

 

Now check this one :

 

 

Right from the start, there IS a windup.

 

Tons of videos on youtube, most with the windup, but in my game, no windup.

 

If I apply the sound mod of my first post, it just plays the sound above the "no windup" animation.

So you hear a windup, but the animation fires directly...

 

Any idea ?

It's me again.

 

I did some investigations on internet, and found out that the disparition of the windup may be caused by an official patch.

The guy in the last post is saying that Bethesda fixed a sound issue with the minigun by removing the spinning sound :

 

Bethesda/Obsidians' solution? Get rid of the barrel spinning noise... wow, that's some fix ... now there's no sound of the barrel spinning up.

 

By checking the New Vegas official patch notes, I indeed noticed that the last game patch fixes something on the minigun sound :

Fixed issue where minigun audio could get stuck/keep playing indefinitely when fired out of V.A.T.S.

 

This patch has been released on July 7, 2011

 

Date of the videos above ?

  • When it worked : November 26, 2010
  • When it does not : August 1, 2013

 

...

 

If it comes from this patch, any idea how we could get back the minigun spinning animation ?

 

Maybe a file from pre-patch, re-used in a mod ?
