A111
I was able to tweak a few settings and use xpadder to use my 360 controller, but there isn't variable speed control for your character like on the 360 version. Are there any mods, or is it possible to make one where the more you push on the analog stick, the faster you go? Walking and running only is annoying. LegoManIAm94
I have tried. I just use the D-pad Up to toggle running and walking. I got used to it though.
chaospearl
Does Oblivion recognize your controller as a joystick? Or are you using Xpadder solely? First go into your Oblivion ini file and make sure the line that says usejoystick= is set to 1. In the game, hit Esc to bring up the options menu and go to the control options. On the screen where you can change the key assignments, at the top, it lets you switch between menus to configure your keyboard and your mouse. Do you have a third option, to configure a joystick, or does it only go back and forth between Keyboard and Mouse? If you do have the Joystick option menu (means Oblivion is recognizing the controller) then it's possible to give the game total control over the left stick and it will work the way you want; push it further to go faster, with variable speed. You just have to tweak the ini file a bit. Unfortunately, if the game doesn't recognize the controller and you have to use Xpadder for all of the button assignments, then you're out of luck. You can set it so that pushing the stick a little makes you walk and pushing it a lot makes you run, but still only two speeds, walk and run. When I was playing Oblivion under Vista, using the usblib driver for my Sixaxis, the game did recognize my controller and allowed me to assign the buttons in the game's controls menu, and I had it working perfectly with variable speeds for the analog stick. I recently built a new machine with Win7 and the only Win7 driver available for the Sixaxis does not play nicely with Oblivion, sadly. I use Xpadder to take over the controller so I can play the game without problems, but the only way to make the analog stick use variable speed is to have Oblivion control the stick. If the game refuses to recognize a controller, then it just can't be done. Sucks, but I'm getting used to just walking and running.
A111
Ok thanks. I'll try it later, but the I mainly just wanted to know if it's possible on the pc version.
theRoadstroker
Actually it is possible to have the "the more you push on the analogue stick, the faster you go". This is done by reading the piece on xbox360 controllers on the official site http://www.elderscro...patchnotes6.htm However I found these "settings" created a few issues on my "mouse/view stick" - so I mapped a better Deadzone on the right stick in xpadder and change the stick to emulate the mouse, and then I changed the settings in the .ini to this: ;X = 1, Y = 2, Z = 3, XRot = 4, YRot = 5, ZRot = 6 iJoystickMoveFrontBack=2 iJoystickMoveLeftRight=1 fJoystickMoveFBMult=2.0000 fJoystickMoveLRMult=2.0000 iJoystickLookUpDown=0 iJoystickLookLeftRight=0 fJoystickLookUDMult=0.0000 fJoystickLookLRMult=0.0000 I ve attached my xpadder Profile ... Use it if you want to. - Cheers
