Game Unplayable on high specs

Also try unpacking the SOUND.BSA file (and remove it from Oblviion.ini), this will help you with stuttering reduction. Tested.

A Creative X-Fi Gamer edition will end your problem, not only with Oblivion, with a lot of new games.

Bye.

There is no reason to unpack the BSA file. Where did people get this information from? The only BSA with high compression, which makes it slightly worth repacking, is the Textures BSA...

I get "this information" from my own 4 years of Oblivion experience. With 3 types of computers. And with +700 hours characters. :D

Unpack, defrag the HD, and test. If it don't help just delete the new created folder. Won't hurt. :D

I was really wondering where someone had heard this. Have you tried repacking the Sound BSA with no compression? Do you use OSR?

Edit: Regardless, installing Quiet Feet MAX should do more to help out a system with no sound card because the files are loose and reduce the sound processing requirement. I suppose, that the load time of the resources is slightly reduced when they are loose, but if the BSA has no compression, then the different would not be great. Maybe the power of the CPU makes a difference...

Edit: My issue with the sound BSA unpacking recommendation is why not the other BSAs? Why would unpacking the sound files make such a difference? The loading of the BSAs, regardless of what types of files they contain is probably done through the same process, right? In that case, would not unpacking the larger BSAs make more of a difference? I just don't understand it...
