IndigoPanda
I can't seem to find the problem causing this. I've reinstalled. Reset Audio Codecs, the works. Also tried with no mods running. Oblivion is crashing as soon as the load bar finishes when I click new game. I ran it minutes before with the exact same set up, Which crashed mid game, and then CTD on load attempt. FO3 still runs perfect at high settings. I think it might be something to do with video codecs and the intro video?
yeldarb
The problem might be your cofiguration settings in Documents\My Games\Oblivion<---this is the folder where your saves are also kept. Copy the file named Oblivion and then delete it and start a new game. You will need to reset your screen resolution and some tweaks like border removal and screenshots. If deleting the configuration settings does not work then reinstall the original and look at updated video or audio drivers needing to be rolled back to a previous version. Unfortunately that did not work, I'm going to uninstall, defrag then reinstall I heard that might help I'll report the results later.
Tomlong54210
Try the clean boot. If you are running Win7 or Vista, make sure Oblivion is installed to a custom folder. Other than that, I do not see how a reinstall will help... Regenerating the Oblivion.ini sounded like a good try. The game does not replace that when you reinstall it, you know... I'm on XP. in the process of defragging and maintenance. The problem is its probably something external. Might it be the disc? Because I had been running the game perfectly fine for at least a year on this computer.
