Gam0rdude
i use just about every streamlining mod out there, and i must say, even though i have a monster computer, i still lag alot. i blame the engine. and lod(loading over distance), its the pure size of oblivion that'll get ya right in the cpu. Nah, just buy lots of RAM and disable Oblivion's hard drive caching in Oblivion.ini. It's cheaper than a solid state drive and works almost as well :)

BFG99
Buying extra RAM cannot do much for a 32-bit app though... That's not totally true. I recently patched my Oblivion EXE so it can use 3GB instead of the normal 2GB limit. Seems to work just fine. And I'm told that there's a 4GB patch out in cyberspace somewhere, but I haven't found it...Of course, you've still got the "total 4GB of memory limit" imposed on all 32-bit copies of Windows--so assuming you have a 512MB graphics card, the most Oblivion could access would be about 3.3 GB minus whatever Windows is using right then. So yeah, there's not much point in getting more than 3-4GB total if it's only for Oblivion, especially if you're on Windows x86.
