Sporadic Crashes

After reinstalling Oblivion, it ran good for a while (I.E. the very first quests) but when I went to the Arcane University, it just crashes randomly. This probably would happen anywhere, but from what I've deduced only in the AU and maybe the entire imperial city. I have no mods active. It crashes anywhere from less than a second after loading the saved game or giving me a minute at most.

EDIT: I've found out that it happens when I enter any indoor area.

How thorough was your uninstall before you did reinstall the game? Your saves and your configuration settings, not to mention some mods from the older install may still be in your hard drive. The configuration settings are in Documents\My Games\Oblivion<----This is the folder where your saves are stored. The cofiguration settings are called "Oblivion" also. Are you using the Unnofficial Oblivion Patches yet? The UOP's fix many of the mistakes Bethesda Softworks left inside the game.

Do you use Oblivion's quick saves and autosaves?

Oblivion.ini Tweaks - http://tesivpositive.animolious.com/?page=oblivion_ini_tweaks <-- It would be safer for you to disable those.

Just disabling a mod does not remove it, (unless you use OMODs to install and remove) Parts will be left behind to cause problems and even inactive mods are read by the game.

Then reinstalling by using the built in uninstaller does not remove Anything not installed as part of the original game and even leaves some of that behind. It does not remove anything from your data folder except the bsa files. It leaves behind all mods, old saves and the original Oblivion.ini and several entries in the Windows registry.

Here is a quick way to get rid of everything except the vanilla (unmodded) game without reinstalling - it does keep any official patches. It does NOT fix any registry problems.

And if that doesn't work:

Here is a link to my complete uninstall/reinstall procedure located in the articles section of the Nexus

It allows you to preserve any saves and mods, or remove them completely - your choice.
