Getting body mods to affect only my character

Someone had told me that creating a custom race would work but it doesnt seem to... or I'm doing it wrong. Can someone walk me through getting body mods to affect only my character?

 

Example: Babe or Skinny Body for my character

Stock Fallout 3 for all the NPC's

I, in fact, was doing it wrong. Custom Race is the way to go.
