OK, so I installed oblivion this morning and everything ran great. I couldn't figure out how to install mods for awhile but i figured it out. So I put the mods icons on my desk top into the recycle bin since id used them already. And that initially messed up my game. I took them back out but it still didn't work. So i deleted all the mods i downloaded to see if that worked and it didn't. So i deleted everything from oblivion i had and uninstalled. When I reinstalled it, everything was blank when i started a new file or loaded a previous one. I went to elder scrolls.com and downloaded the upgrade patch and see if it fixed it.. it didn't. Soo I pretty much wrecked my game and i don't know what to do. Please help if you can.

What version of Oblivion are you using, as in where did you get it, Steam, retail? You can't just drop mods in and go. There are conflicts to deal with and proper installation to consider and all that jazz.

Did you delete the My Games\Oblivion folder in Documents when you reinstalled? What operating system are you running? Installing the patch was a good idea, but I think something are still misconfigured elsewhere.

Im using the retail version. Yes I deleted all the folders and all the content. When I reinstalled oblivion there was nothing.. I'm using windows 7. Thank you for replying btw.

Okay, now that you have a clean setup. This time, reinstall the game to a custom folder (i.e., C:\Games.) Using the default folder is troublesome because of the UAC's monitoring. The interference is well intended, so you can leave the UAC alone, but put Oblivion in a different (new) folder. You do not have to create the folder beforehand, just make up something to put as the install path during the installation.

After that, you can follow this new (mod) users guide: http://tesivpositive.animolious.com/ <-- Let me know if you have any questions.

No unfortunately im still encountering the same problem. I may have deleted necassary files for the base game to work?

Is the entire screen blank? You just reinstalled to a new folder, right? You have regenerated the Oblivion.ini as well when you deleted the Oblivion folder in Documents\My Games. A fresh install would have added the original files back. Do you see the different BSAs and such in the Data folder?

I can see the text box where you input race/class, etc but no avatar to the right or if i load a previous save all i see is the crosshair and the health bar, the backround image is blank. I reinstalled and put the example you used, maybe i should put something else. Maybe by putting games it automatically put it back where the other file is. I see the same things as before in the data folder.

I tried it again and saved it to my pictures when i reinstalled it and the same thing happens. I asked my friends and none knew and geek squad said they didn't handle software issues. Im kind of at a loss right now...

The only other thing I can think of that may be messing it up is an obmm mod i downloaded. I tried to give myself rights to the folder because i have win7 and somehow I locked it. It says i cant delete it move it or anything. Its a zipper folder? Other than the original oblivion bsa data this is the only thing in my computer in referance to oblivion. I bought my dell yesterday for the sole purpose of playing oblivion..
