bryghen1990
ok so i just made a mod with an ak i made, i put in in place of one of the Chinese assault rifles in the megaton armory and saved the geck file (as "megaton armory.esm") .. now i couldnt find it in fomm, but i did however figure out if i right clicked the mod file in the folder an option to "add to 'megaton armory.rar'". now i can open the newly created bsa file using fomm, however when i go in game and go into the actual armory my ak isnt there, how do i fix this? ill try to include pictures, (first time on a forum haha so im trying to figure this out lol) any help would be greatly apprecheated, plus im fairly savvy with fallout mods, so i can help with mods your making, thanks Edited October 25, 2014 by bryghen1990
Purr4me
If you made the mod ...using the geck..then the mod is already installed in the games directory because that's the source of the data it was made from.your picture here makes no sense at all even for steam applications, it plainly shows your using the OS to add information to a rar file....cuz that what send is or does.if you did not save a "esp" named file when exiting the creation kit, then NO, your data is just gone, not even there. If you replace the mesh and texture while in the geck, these are already there. Again, the pictures show clearly you did have an intent to replace the mesh and textures of these items but they are not showing up in game.....say's you did not save an esp file. ok so i just made a mod with an ak i made, i put in in place of one of the Chinese assault rifles in the megaton armory and saved the geck file (as "megaton armory.esm") ..Wrong, never will the geck save files in (esm) format. IF it did ! oh boy we want your software. So...being that is where your at? if you open the geck and can see the items as before?--------archive invalidate the games file and then try the game....cuzz they must be in game to be in the geck's windows. suggest you get Fomm, Nmm, or Mod Organizer to install your *.rar files with.kitty Edited October 25, 2014 by Purr4me
bryghen1990
correction it did save as "esp" not "esm" my bad, but iv tried just simply changing the name and damage of a sawed off and swapped it out for a pistol in the armory, a simple mod iv done a million times before, but i havnt done it since i deleted and re-installed fallout 3 goty, so my problem is involved with loading the actual esp in the game, i do have fomm but it doesnt find my files most of the time, for some reason it did find a test file i just mad, checked its little check box, loaded the game through fomm, and it starts up fine, but then I look on the table and its STILLLLLL the original gun, my modded weapon is nowhere to be found, i dont understand it, im pretty sure my files just arent being loaded, im so frustrated, it seems like every time i try to learn new things in modding EVERYTHING goes wrong, and it takes me forever to figure out how to do it, i wish i could just install the skills in my brain, but something would go wrong with that too lol

Now, if the data is indeed / been changed, then the data in game WILL be too.If the data you saved was not changed, then in game it will appear as though it's not been changed at all.in game diagnostics ...to see if you in fact have changed the items......on the table in front of you, knowing darn well the plugin is set and enabled, click on the item in console mode. the title key , ( ` ) is console ......click on the gun, any one you think was changed but still looks like the original.....pay close attention here. type "disable" hit the enter key...if the gun is still there? then you did not succeed in changing it in the geck, in fact, all you have is a duplicate of the item in question. but..if that item disappears? then it was not changed at all and the problem was in the geck processes. "it did not save the changes."The GECK is screwy all the time....and if there is data sitting in the data directory that interferes with the geck, you will always have bugs. Default game data ,simple edit and saved as "new file / esp file / name of the file you want"zip it up, install it in the fomm thing .check it, run the game. see what happens.kitty

Purr4me
yes, then save the esp so it shows up in game. If you see what you dropped and moved into place in the geck windows, it will show up in game.http://s26.postimg.org/r4twkrjex/Plasma_Pistol_Placment_MA.jpghttp://www.2shared.com/file/xrXZczZp/PlasmaPistaolDemo.htmlinstall that with the Fomm file manager and test it.kitty Edited October 26, 2014 by Purr4me
bryghen1990
yep, tried it, i know it sounds crazy but i did it all right but for whatever reason my mods, and only my mods, dont work in fallout, (any one of them from nexus runs great, of course with the occasional little bug here and there) i actually added the alien blaster before i asked you about it... still nothing, im really getting frustrated with this, any other ideas? btw thank you so much for helping me, it means alot
Purr4me
What I will do is put together My InI files for you to use, currently right this moment they are default Vanilla NON updated versions. How ever, the geck is full updated. so the geck's InI's are also updated, as they alone are what you need. I can't help but wonder where your game is installed at? From what you describe, I can extrapolate that ....in assuming the location to be C:\Program Files And Folders..../ fallout3 or at ONE time, you had installed it in that location so the data, the old registry data is loading up....this will cause a permission issue that does not show up, a silent treatment the operating system does to most and it will frustrate even the best of us. It happens all the time, even to me, because windows "Phones Home" and updates things in the back ground the instant it see's the networks / internet connectivity. Sucks, really sucks to no end that even today ,we have to live with things we cannot see or know about.a few moments and I'll have a link for you.....you unpack these and place them into your "My games folder" fallout3 in the documents area.all I want you to do is load up the geck with the fallout3.esm only activated...no DLC's, and pick any item and place it where you can really get to it with out too much trouble. in the open on the ground, any where.......
