Importing Games

Ok, the short answer for DAO/DA2 is... "No."

The longer answer for DA:I is, "There is no import, only the Keep".

The Dragon Age Keep is BioWare's new (currently in closed beta, goes public on Oct 29) on-line tool for storing your "world-states" and then sending that data over to a new game. The first game to use the Keep will be DA:I.

As BioWare have stated publically (in various Twitch sessions and other channels) as it is currently implemented, when you log-in to the Keep and tell it to "Sync" the Keep searches for any characters you have saved on the legacy BSN servers under your Origin ID. Platform doesn't matter, PC, PS3, XBox, all the same. It's your Origin ID that is used to link to your characters.

The Keep only obtains the following info from the legacy servers:

-- Achievements (Badges)

-- Bonus Items

-- Character Name, Gender, Class, Origin Story, and 2D "Portrait" for reference (not use in-game)

You'll then be able to start a new game of DA:I using either:

a) The "default world-state" created by the Keep from the character data above;

or,

b) Tailor that world-state to reflect the choices you made during your actual playthrough, (or the choices you wished you'd made, or the choices you wondered about making, or the choices you didn't even know you could make... :happy: )

You'll be able to save a number of different world-states (exactly how many is TBD).

All world-states are usable across all platforms.

As you play DA:I your choices in that game that affect the world-state are uploaded back to the Keep (if you are on-line and allow the connection) so that they're available for future use.

BUT GOING FORWARD THERE WILL BE NO DIRECT IMPORT OF SAVES FROM ANY GAME TO ANY OTHER GAME ANY MORE.

There is only the Keep! :thumbsup:

[EDIT: One unknown (at this point) is whether you can use a partial DA:I playthrough from platform X as the starting point for a new game on Platform P. So will you be able to play 18 hours on your XBox, save/exit, then pick-up the game on your PC from where you left-off on your XBox? I doubt it, but we'll see...]
