yeldarb
Your problem is probably a missing mod needed for the one of the others to work.It might also be a load order issue or a new mod that conflicts with a mod you had already installed. You can test if it is a mod that requires OBSE causing the problem by using the Oblivionlauncher.exe in you Data folder to start the game without OBSE. OBSE is not the culprit, but a missing OBSE plugin can be.

Tomlong54210
what do you mean by operating system? and i have oblivion game of the year edition. would i need to get a patch? If you are running Vista or Win7, reinstall the game outside of the default folder (i.e., to C:\Games) Do you have a retail or Steam version? Could you describe the crash more precisely? Try regenerating the Oblivion.ini - http://tesivpositive.animolious.com/?page=know_how_to#RegenerateTheOblivion.ini

yeldarb
You should have Oblivion installed outside of Program Files and UAC interuption of mods. I use C:Games\Oblivion on both of my computers.EDIT @5:53 P.M. CST U.S. You can try deactivating the newly installed mods one by one to find a culprit. I install mods by converting them into OMODs with Oblivion Mod Manager (OBMM) because I just click on deactivate to remove a mod and the meshes,textures,sounds,esm/esp's are removed from my Data folder. I am also familiar with using the conflict detectors in OBMM so I can usually narrow the problem down to a specific mod. I will then take a look at readme file to see if I missed something on installation, like an OBSE plugin or another mod needing to be installed for it to work.P.S. The GOTY is patched to 1.20416 when the second disc has been installed. I would get the Unofficial Oblivion Patches for your game and the downloadable content, they fix many flaws left in Oblivion by Bethesda and they also eliminate the need for a custom race fix for the tutorial dungeon and the Boethia quest. You can copy the contents of your Data folder over after you reinstall. All you have to do is uninstall the game, and then, during the install process, enter "C:\Games" for the install path. (The installer will create the directory.) The crash you described sounds just like the one that is circumvented by this move. It should pay off...
