Wolvencroft
After the usual full install of the Game of the Year edition, the game wouldn't play at all on Vista x64 with all patches. I deleted the game, reinstalled just the original Oblivion game. Played like a champ with about 100 mods installed. Some of the mods required the latest SI patch, so I installed that even thought SI wasn't installed. Kept playing. Decided to try to install the KNON and SI disc. I used the Oblivion Mod Manager to get rid of any minor conflicts. To my utter surprise, they worked! It may have been that I installed the SI patch first? Unchecked minor conflicting mods? I don't know. It just worked!Hope this might help somebody.
Tomlong54210
The GOTY edition is patched after installing disc 2. If you do not want to use disc 2 (with SI) install the official Oblivion patch. Make sure the game is installed outside of the default folder, program files, on Win7 and Vista. The latest SI patch should not successfully install on a setup without SI installed. You have to use the latest Oblivion patch in that case.
