Alright so I am pretty new to dragonage and it's modding community but I modded the crap out of fallout and it was super easy. I am haveing mondo problems with dragon age. I have DAO Modmanger v1.9d and i can't get any of the mods to actually install. I have them showing up in the Mods in Mods folder box but I can't get any of them to actually install... namely I have the Natural Bodies override file but I click install and it does nothing...

NBAIO doesnt go into the mods pane. NBAIO goes into the "Installed Override's" pane of DaModManager (DAMM).

The mods that you're having problems with, are they .rar .zip .7z or .dazip files? Aside from .override files like NaturalBodiesAllInOne, the only formats that DaMM will only handle are .zip and .dazip. If they are a different format than that, you will have to extract them from the .rar or .7z files (www.7zip.com 7zip can do this) and usually there is a .dazip inside of them that you can just Drag and Drop (DnD) into DaMM.

Also, some files that arent in a .zip or .dazip or .override file, dont have anything that will tell DaMM where they need to go. Such is the case fairly often with face morphs. Those, you can just extract and drop into your documents/bioware/dragon age/packages/core/override folder.

  • 2 weeks later...

If your install doesnt have that directory, you can make one yourself.

just go to documents/bioware/dragon age/packages/core when you've got explorer in the core folder, right click on an empty area of the window, choose new, then folder. name the folder "override" (no quotes) and its all good :)

I did that before posting but I wasn't sure it would work. Luckily it does!

Oh! Ok, sorry about that. You can use one of two programs to install these with. There is DA Modder (DAM) and there is DA Mod Manager (DAMM). Both of them are very good, and both of them can install mods that are in .dazip or .zip format. DAMM can also install mods that are proprietary to DAMM called .overrides

DAM is here- http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=286

DAMM is here- http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=277

for zips and dazips all you have to do is drag and drop the zip/dazip file into the program and it will start up the installation. If its a .rar .7z or something like that, you'll need a program that can handle those formats to unpack them first. 7zip is a good one for that, but it includes an installed web browzer bar. so if you dont want taht installed, I'd go with peazip. you can find them both thru google ;)

7zip is easier to use for a novice, peazip is a bit more advanced. But both of them will handle the job of unpacking them from the .rar or .7z format.

IF the modder didnt put them into a .dazip file inside that folder, you can just take the files and place them in a new folder in documents/bioware/dragon age/packages/core/OVERRIDE. IF by chance you dont have an override folder, you can create a new folder inside core, and name it override, and it will work fine :)
